In the past my 8yo has regularly had:

Character boxers/socks
Magic flannel
Top trumps
Lego mixels
Small transformer/hatch'n'hero

This year he's getting a brickheadz captain America (I tend to do 'proper' presents in the stocking if they're small), a rainbow dash multi colour pen, rainbow dash teddy sticking out the top, not sure what else

Also he has had brainteaser type puzzles (IQ link is his favourite) and he's kept mentioning a Rubik's cube
