Christmas without a fireplace?

We are due to move house (hopefully!) at the end of this month. The new house has a very modern wall-mounted fire, with no fireplace. Our current house has a marble effect fireplace and I have always decorated it with a garland on the fireplace and Christmas candles and ornaments on the hearth, plus Father Christmas always leaves a snowy boot print on the hearth on Christmas morning.

How can I make the lounge seem festive and just as special without a fireplace?

We don’t have a fireplace. We have a bay window and I tend to decorate the sill (we have fairy lights and stuff there year round anyway, it just gets christmassed up a bit).

I don't have a fire place but have a standing unit that I decorate. Beside the chimney breast I put snowman and a Santy on either side.
