I’ve seen Very. Mark and Spencer featuring Paddington is out tonight I believe and Debenhams this week. I’ve seen a 4 second clip of what may be John Lewis but not sure when it is out.

Anyone seen any others?

Oh dear. No tear jeepers then Hmm

HandbagCrazy · 12/11/2017 21:56

I don’t like the tear jerker ads to be honest. You’re not supposed to cry because it’s Christmas Hmm
I just wish someone would make one that was happy AND Christmassy, with a cheerful song that hasn’t been made all slow and whispered, some snow, a Christmas tree and laughter.
Most ads this year are one or the other, cheerful or Christmassy, not both

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 12/11/2017 21:58

Wow. Did The Grinch steal sainsburys real Christmas advert and replace it with a big old pile of sprout scented faeces? It's so disappointing Xmas Sad

GherkinSnatch · 12/11/2017 22:02

It’s hard to get right I think - there’s a fine line between an identifiable Christmas (e.g. the typical JL present opening scene or the year boots did the night shift working Mum) and false/forced joviality (looking at you, Sainsbury’s).

I wasn’t keen on Sainsbury’s this year for that reason.

Horsemad · 12/11/2017 22:03

Good Grief, WTF is that Sainsbury's as all about?! Shock

ColinsVeryJolly · 12/11/2017 22:06

I like the Waitrose advert but not sure about the Sainsburys one. I like the idea of it but the rhymes are so cringally not a word shit that it doesn't work.

Goshthatwentwell · 12/11/2017 22:12

Dreadful the lot of them. Bloody overpaid ad agencies...

Need a bit of fresh thinking. I think the companies should get a laid of media studies students to do them.

Petalflowers · 12/11/2017 22:18

Don't like the carrot one.

My favourite ones are Debenhams and Sky Movies, although haven't seen them all yet. John Lewis isn't bad.

I hope an advertising agency is reading this thread and reads Handbagcrazy's post. The adverts are trying too hard. We want a nice, simple Christmas advert.

Goshthatwentwell · 12/11/2017 22:21

Actually I could do you a real tear jerker with children in care or living in poverty enjoying Christmas ....no expensively schooled actors or CGI required. At least the £1 million could go towards something worthwhile.

Xoticdreamz · 12/11/2017 22:22

My favourites this year are, Amazon, Barbour and Heathrow airport !

tootsieglitterballs · 12/11/2017 23:24

I’d prefer the Sainsbury’s one if there was a bit of colour in it... even just Santa hats in red would have been nice!

Dailystuck71 · 13/11/2017 13:14

Sainsbury’s is my favourite! I really enjoyed it.

Don't like the Waitrose one at all, why the black & white? I like the Talk Talk family, they were filmed last Xmas!

IsabelleSE19 · 14/11/2017 13:11

Sainsbury's should just reshow the WWI Christmas truce one every year and I would look forward to seeing it again every year sad

Disappointed in all of them this year! JL totally phoned it in.

IsabelleSE19 · 14/11/2017 13:13

And shame on M&S for putting the possibility of someone burgling their Christmas presents into children's minds! That someone could be that low had never occurred to my DC before.

SabineDeux · 14/11/2017 13:22

I like that House of Fraser one last year. It was fun and lively, weird dancing though.

I can't abide the cynical weepies. John Lewis had one good idea and should just play that every year. The Morrissey one. Absolutely inspired advert. The rest have been rubbish.
