Any new Christmas movies?

We have Polar Express, Arthur Christmas etc, but I’m looking for something we’ll all enjoy to put in the Christmas Eve box. Any suggestions please? We do have most of the classics already and I sat through the agony of Nativity 3 last year.

Assuming you have Home Alone, the best Christmas movie ever made.

BrieAndChilli · 03/11/2017 20:36

Elf
Nightmare before Christmas
The snowman

Hedgyhoggy · 03/11/2017 20:41

Oh how could you!!! We love Nativity 1,2 & 3 in this house.

Don’t know if I dare offer an alternative based on our film taste but we also love Elf

Scrooged with Bill Murray. Never fails to crack me up. Stapling anters to a mouse's head? Priceless!

Isadora2007 · 03/11/2017 21:20

I dont think there are new Xmas films!
The CBeebies series Arthur has a Christmas mini movie which is actually great!
And Barbies best Christmas ever (can’t recall if that’s the exact name) is a good one too.
That’s really sad of me to admit to enjoying those. 🙈

Dvd's not dad's, bloody auto correct!

HappySpade · 03/11/2017 21:37

Could try:

The Dog Who Saved Christmas
The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation
The Dog Who Saved the Holidays

DCs (8 and 4) enjoy them (the dog talks) and DH and I really enjoy picking out the plot holes, inconsistencies, re-use of the same plot over and over, and general stupidity of the movies.

Khaleesi0 · 03/11/2017 21:37

My favourite is The Holiday - kids probably won’t like it though...!

elQuintoConyo · 03/11/2017 21:56

Anabelle's Wish.

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 03/11/2017 22:35

Muddling, that’s a fine festive collection.* Might try Scrooged. The problem is that most look so very corny.*

Are they too young for Die Hard?

AgathaRaisonDetra · 03/11/2017 22:39

Bad Santa. A great family movie.

Verbena37 · 03/11/2017 22:42

The Twelve Days of Christmas Eve is a good feel good xmas movie.

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 03/11/2017 22:44

Die Hard reminds me of my dad. He let us watch it well under 10! He put a life size cut out of Rutger Hauer as The Hitcher in our bedroom Shock

He sounds awesome! We got our first video when I was around 7 and the first film we watched was gremlins - another awesomely inappropriate Christmas film!

Allthepinkunicorns · 04/11/2017 08:53

Gremlins or Edward scissor hands (depending on kids age) I love watching these at Christmas.

Olaf Christmas movie is coming out this month, you could maybe go to the cinema on Christmas eve to watch it.

allegretto · 04/11/2017 08:54

Paddington? That's set at Christmas, isn't it?

feelslikearockandahardplace · 04/11/2017 09:10

AgathaRaisonDetre you're wicked! Love that film, can't imagine watching with DC's though.
Another vote for Elf here or Santa Claus The Movie.

metalmum15 · 04/11/2017 09:57

I love Gremlins, it was a PG anyway when it first came out so I saw it at the cinema aged about 9. My favourite Christmas movies are Elf, Home Alone, the first Nativity film and Scrooged. How about Groundhog Day? Not christmassy, but wintery and snowy, kids love it!

Get Santa is utterly brilliant.
