Planting a Christmas tree to be left outdoors all year long

Has anyone done this? I’d really like to plant a Christmas tree to be left outside all year long but everything I find online is about pot grown trees that come inside for Christmas but I don’t want one to bring inside.

Any tips? Could I plant one at this time of year? I’d really like one at the front of the house that I can put lights on over the Christmas period!

Can you not just plant a potted one? Might be better to ask on the gardening threads. In our garden we have a Christmas tree which I'd imagine was planted years ago by the previous owners.
