Dessert/pudding on Cristmas Day that's not Christmas Pudding

What do people do if they don't do Christmas Pudding or trifle?

We very rarely make any pudding/dessert at all. We haven't hosted Christmas for a long time but will be this year. Don't think a banana and a frozen tube of yoghurt is appropriate.

Any ideas?

We're competent in the kitchen. There will be 5 people eating, including MIL and FIL who do not have adventurous tastes.

Chocolate Chip Brioche bread and butter pudding.
Warm ginger cake and custard.
Spiced Apple Eve's Pudding and Custard.

I always do a chocolate steamed sponge too. And eat both!

For special occasions, DH makes a really nice bread and butter pudding, with raisins, vanilla and cinnamon, a glass of naice sherry and extra cream in the milk/egg mix. You could do a Christmas version with Pannetonne if you really wanted extra special.

Meringues to make pavlova can be made (or bought) in advance, and put together when you are ready. Just have the cream whipped and fruit prepared - but you could leave it until the next day easily if you are all too full.

Or actually just the fruit as a lovely fresh fruit salad with cream.

Chocolate mousse in individual portions could be nice too - in tea cups, or small glass containers, with some dried orange peel on top.

Sticky toffee pudding with dates in and a proper toffee sauce is nom nom.....
