Bakewell Tart for Christmas Day pudding

DM is hosting me, DH and DCsx2 for Christmas. She's phoned to say that she has ordered a family size Bakewell Tart instead of "that Christmas Pudding crap" for The Big Day. Inside I'm crying. This is so wrong. So very wrong.

I hate Bakewell Tart. I might have to smuggle in two small microwaveable Christmas Puds anyway. it's what Santa would have wanted

We always have Christmas Pudding, then we get MiL a chocolatey pudding because dried fruit does something to her gallbladder Hmm. And I have to eat the minging Christmas Pudding while MiL eats her delicious chocolatey dessert.

I'd bite your arm off if you gave me an excuse to avoid the horror of the Pudding (any chance the gallbladder thing might be contagious?).

Strong views on Christmas pudding on this thread. Grin

Christmas Pudding is called Christmas Pudding for a reason. Anything else just isn't Christmas.

We never have Christmas Pudding - no one likes it so we have apple pie!

Taffeta · 25/10/2017 09:23

We had roast beef instead of turkey one year. God knows why - “for a change!” - it just wasn’t Christmas.

endehors · 25/10/2017 10:27

but trifle is the devil's pudding

Agree. Terrible stuff.

jetSTAR · 25/10/2017 17:34

That's all very sad Vampire
We also have multiple pud options for xmas day although these days pudding comes a couple of hours after the main course!!

Bettercallsaul1 · 25/10/2017 17:53

Yes, same with us, jet! Two or three hour recovery period required before pudding.

averylongtimeago · 25/10/2017 18:13

We had this last year and Christmas pud, although there was a long gap between courses!

Is that a tower of profiteroles, averylongtimeago? That's very impressive!

VampireSugarAndCorpseSpice · 25/10/2017 22:54

LOL Vampire. You're right! Grin

Insomnibrat · 27/10/2017 18:27

Very impressive @averylongtimeago , but why is it served on an ipad? Grin

I've had to put my foot down re-trifle this year, it takes up the whole of the bloody fridge, it feels a bit weird in my mouth, all those textures together make me boak and once cut into it seeps. I can't be doing with watery trifle seepage.

Lexilooo · 27/10/2017 18:56

Bakewell tart = very very unreasonable

Bakewell pudding = quite understandable

Lexilooo · 27/10/2017 19:13

Just read the wine thing....... can you still divorce your parents?

VampireSugarAndCorpseSpice · 27/10/2017 20:27

Lol lexiloo - we'll just have to keep a secret stash and send a bad message out to our DCs that it's acceptable to Secret Binge Eat/Drink Confused
