Is there anything you're flatly refusing to get the kids this year? I always avoid toilet-humour themed board games/story books/sweets and character toys.

OP posts:
InvisibleKittenAttack · 23/10/2017 17:16

Bunchums, or whatever they are called. The things that have caused pretty much every primary school in the country to have one little girl whos had to have an unscheduled drastic hair re-style after getting the bastard things caught in their hair...

DontKnowWhatToDo123 · 23/10/2017 19:30

my children both put on a minecraft ender dragon figure.... £35 for a figure of something from a computer game on a level he hasn't even got to yet....and why would his sister need one too?

hatchimals are NOT been bought

nor is the pottery studio dd wants.... or the £80 nerf gun ds wanted.

SeraphinaDombegh · 23/10/2017 19:34

Yet another fucking fidget spinner. That never gets played with.

Wellandtrulyoutnumbered · 23/10/2017 19:43

I'm refusing to do themed advent calendars this year.

Also said no to a tree. I just can't face constantly stopping baby from pulling it down. I've said yes to Mil led mini tree in an inaccessible corner.

Flisspaps · 23/10/2017 19:47

5yo DS has asked for an ‘ifoon’, Nintendo switch and an X box.

7 yo DD’s list spans 2 sides of A4, 2 columns each side.

They’ll be fucking lucky - they get 1 big present each and a load of shite from Santa

ThomasRichard · 23/10/2017 20:03

A Mr Frosty. They still look crap, 25 years after I had one.

A Baby Annabell house.

A large blow-up hammer.

A dog.

A cat.

A Nerf crossbow.

The list will no doubt grow.

Benedikte2 · 23/10/2017 20:32

Can anyone tell me if those little electronic monkeys work? £15 odd but only £6.99 on eBay.
Will it provide a few hours of amusement enforce its put away?
Not for my DC, btw.

Mercedes519 · 23/10/2017 20:48

Ben Fingerling?

DD has one and she has gone back to playing with it since we got it. She worked out how to make it fart which is obviously vv entertaining.

It's kind of cute in a weird way...

bettydraper31 · 23/10/2017 20:54

That fur-reals tiger- the bastard is £135!

No way.

Nada.

NotCitrus · 23/10/2017 21:37

Cuddly toys over 3 feet long. Just no. Especially when it's a Pokemon that child has 3 of anyway. Also cuddly food items of any size.
And no, not another games console when it was the big family present last year.

And no My Little Bloody Pony shit (maybe a lolly and a clothing item)

Shufflebumnessie · 23/10/2017 21:39

Ben 10 Rust Bucket playset - £70 and terrible reviews, and a Build-a-Bear Pikachu.
I'm off to google this chocolate coin maker!

FruitCider · 23/10/2017 21:39

Everyone keeps slating hatchimals but I bought my DChild one recently and they take it EVERYWHERE. It’s only cost me £6 a day so far in entertainment I would say it’s good value for money if you don’t mind petting it yourself once in a while Wink

Lovemusic33 · 23/10/2017 21:40

not I have a cuddly toy obsessed Pokemon fan here too, I had to get her a bunk bed to house them on, I refuse to buy anymore.

slimyslitheryslug · 23/10/2017 21:48

Kinetic sand is brilliant. My DC will be getting more of it this Christmas.
They have never had the chocolate coin maker but had the chocolate lolly maker last year in a bid to stretch out DD's belief in Father Christmas (after all, I would never get them something so pointless) and they loved it and it works quite well.
We also have a Mr Frosty. Utterly pointless but the DC love it so it is worth it.

craftsy · 23/10/2017 22:36

I saw some sort of own brand hatchimals in The Range. I think they were hatching animatronic dinosaurs.

nickdrakeslovechild · 23/10/2017 22:38

Bunchems and luvabella, I think the evil doll would just wrap my DD hair in them at night just so I have to cut the damn things out!

peachy94 · 23/10/2017 22:45

A cat. OH hates them, though DSs answer to that was to swap OH for the cat Hmm 😂

rachrach2 · 23/10/2017 22:57

My daughter wants playmobil and batteries! It’s because we are delaying replacing batteries in a ridiculously loud toy so she’s put them on her list! She will be getting playmobil, I love it as much as them and it’s pretty much the only toys that get played with.

DeleteOrDecay · 23/10/2017 23:01

Hatchimal, although we have got dd1 a small key ring one for her birthday, it was only a few quid though, not £60+!

Bunchems due to the hair issue mentioned by pp’s.

Chocolate coin maker.

Magic sand is actually brilliant, my dd’s play with it regularly and it’s much easier to clean up than play dough as it doesn’t stick to the floor/carpet and can be hoovered up.

gillybeanz · 24/10/2017 00:06

My dd wants a Segway. She's 13 and due to her lifestyle it will remain unused for most of the time.
If she was younger and would get several years out of it maybe.
Unless I'm wrong and older teens use them alot.

forceslover · 24/10/2017 06:07

A drone - no way!

tangerino · 24/10/2017 07:11

iPhone X- nice try, DS.

happiestcamper · 24/10/2017 09:09

Sparkletastic Santa brought a gecko to our house a few years ago. Most played with and loved gift ever. Don't knock it till you try it Wink

littlebird7 · 24/10/2017 09:48

Orbeez two children nearly choked to death swallowing them at our school.

A real live penguin

Avonandice · 24/10/2017 09:58

I have one child who wants a gymnastics thing to help with back flips but at close to £700 he can think again.

Middle DC wants (for the 3rd year running) a nail gun.
