bigarse maybe your ds would like a big fluffy blanket to open?
Had similar problems with sdd - ASD and doesn’t play with anything, doesn’t eat chocolate or sweets or much really, doesn’t stay with us long enough to need clothes etc etc. We now buy her board games as it’s something for her to open but everyone else gets to play and enjoy so we don’t feel like we’ve spent money on stuff that’s never even opened.
Other options could be fidget toys and sensory stuff such as play dough, kinetic sand, slime etc

Place marking thanks Reastie CakeWine

Bigarse1 For your DH I was wondering if there's such a thing as a dash cam for motorcycles? Or would he appreciate new gloves or something like that? If he was a reader I'd suggest Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance even though it's old.
For your DS I was thinking that he might enjoy helium balloons or perhaps a bubble machine? They tend to be really cheap right now because it's off season but we used to put ours in the bathroom. There are so many fidget spinner variations at the moment too, would he like those?

The Asda vet set looks great. Anyone know is there an Asda in Northern Ireland?

TalkingOrmer · 15/10/2017 09:14

AlltheWitty what is your IL's box office? I've no idea what that means but have FOMO Grin

EmGee · 15/10/2017 09:14

Would anyone like a Boden 10£ off a 30£ spend? I won't use it would rather just a 10£ voucher off full stop!

EmGee · 15/10/2017 09:19

Does anyone know where I can get a discount on The Week annual subscription? I get it for my dad every year and pay a full one-off payment. Last couple of years someone has posted a 5£ off code on here.

Almostthere15 · 15/10/2017 09:27

@bigarse1 it's worth a look in tiger as mentioned because they often have balls that are light but with lots of different textures. You'd also find lots of crafty bits for his twin.

Making a weighted blanket sounds quite difficult, what about a kind of patchwork blanket with textures he likes, and perhaps tags or fidget bits on.

You could wall mount interesting lights/frame posters inexpensively? It does make opening them tricky I know if you feel like they may get launched straight away.

Im currently trying to convince dd that the lol fizz maker isn't very good. Who knows if I'll succeed!

They also have a Facebook page.

butterflymum · 15/10/2017 09:36

@Annwithnoe, there are several Asdas in Northern Ireland. You can see where at storelocator.asda.com/#!/

woodwaj · 15/10/2017 09:36

If he likes to make noise my suggestion would be a karaoke machine? That might not help you though!! Google lilbits it's all toys focused on sensory needs. I have a bubble light for my son who is 2.5 he doesn't knock it over but he could if he tried! I got it from b&m last year for £25 You might be better with string led lights or even a projector? @bigarse1

FlowerTink · 15/10/2017 09:37

Oh haha I made thread title! Blush

Thank you to whoever explained the gin festival code to me, unfortunately now I know what to do it's saying the code usage has been exceeded. I did NOT need gin anyway.

I'm on the look out for a beauty advent calendar. It's for my 18 year old and I usually get her the benefit one but I would like something different for her this year. Everything I find either seems to be aimed at younger girls or mega expensive...the benefit one is usually £35, prepared to pay slightly more but not too much. Any ideas?

Holidaycheer · 15/10/2017 10:24

@bigarse1 how about bubbles? Different types of machines, wands and touchable ones etc? I did that for dd one birthday she got a little indoor trampoline and every type of bubble thing I could find lol.

A tray (we have a concrete tray from b and q) some different types of figures and things like shaving foam, pasta or water beads to make a sensory tray.

Different texture balls, those click clack car towers always go down well with the children I work with with asd they like to just watch it go down over and over again. I got dd one of the musical ones that go up the stairs and slide down last year she loved was about £3. Liquid timer type toys, a find it (tube with rice and things hidden to find) water beads, lullaby/projector light for bedtime? My dd has loads of different types mostly from argos. Foil blanket, bendy men or a stretch Armstrong, tangle toy or other fidget toys.
