Well, they cost a little bit more than a bic!!

Does anyone have any suggestions of how I might be able to obtain one at a slightly more bargainous rate?

Look at local auction houses. My husband often comes across them.

CamperVamp · 14/10/2017 17:00

Wow! Does he know how much they actually cost?

Sgtmajormummy · 14/10/2017 17:01

Don't get him the smaller model. It's not officially stated but it's generally seen as the lady's version...

My god! Thats an expensive thing to chew the end and lose the cap of!

They dont look that impressive to me, what does he like about them?.. is he a handwriting person, or a brand fan?

BlueUggs · 14/10/2017 17:09

I’ve got a Waterman fountain pen. I’ve had it for more than 20 years. I use it every day and it cost £40. I love it.

NotCitrus · 14/10/2017 17:16

Try Ebay - though even one with a company logo might be over £100.

SimultaneousEquation · 14/10/2017 17:21

£2000? Does it fart unicorns?

Sgtmajormummy · 14/10/2017 17:22

www.penshop.co.uk sells the more reasonable models.

Chocolatecake12 · 14/10/2017 17:23

Convince him that they’re rubbish! Apparently you’ve heard they write terribly! What you need darling is a Parker Wink

SimultaneousEquation · 14/10/2017 17:23

Maudlinmaud · 14/10/2017 17:25

Faints.

Civilservant · 14/10/2017 17:26

What’s your usual budget for gifts for each other?

Gruach · 14/10/2017 17:26

What's the point of the ballpoint? It's the Montblanc fountain pen nib that's worth paying for.

Youcanttaketheskyfromme · 14/10/2017 17:27

What do they do that a bic doesn't ?

For that price I'd want it to write me a best selling novel as well.

iklboo · 14/10/2017 17:29

Tell him you want and you'll ask him to bring the pen with him when he comes.

Sparkletastic · 14/10/2017 17:31

Tell him you were thinking more along nice jumper, book, dvd and bottle of scotch lines.

FizzyGreenWater · 14/10/2017 17:34

Make him a Mont Blanc pudding and stick a Parker pen in it and claim you misheard?

buckeejit · 14/10/2017 17:35

Why?? Fil bought DH one some years ago-if I could find it I could sell it to you & buy myself some useful jewellry!

handslikecowstits · 14/10/2017 17:37

"Sorry Darling, that's too expensive."

Sgtmajormummy · 14/10/2017 17:40

I see we're getting into the "£2000 for a handbag!" mindset.

DH collects pens from all walks of life, starting with quirky giveaways, through to well designed school equipment, right up to collectors' items.

Nothing wrong with wanting a nice pen.

Stopyourhavering · 14/10/2017 17:41

I got my dh one when he qualified/ passed bar exams 15 yrs ago.....he uses it nearly every day. Says it's the best pen he's ever had. He's left handed and always used to have problems getting a decent pen
Buy it...it's a great investment

Tiddlywinks63 · 14/10/2017 17:46

😳 Blimey!
I've got one somewhere, never used it....... Surely nobody pays £2k for a flipping pen?
How the other half live!

pictish · 14/10/2017 17:46

Tell him not to be so stupid. £2000 for a pen...what a monumental and vulgar waste of money, the ostentatious prat.
