What's everyone doing for Christmas Dessert?

I usually do triffle and little Christmas puddings but feel like a change this year as some of the guests are not overly keen on them, although they will eat them.

I've been looking through recipes and the one I think will appeal to everyone is Chestnut puree Mont Blanc. Would love to hear what you are doing (incase I change my mind...again!)

Loving all these ideas! I was honking of something like a Christmas cheesecake and wondered whether anyone had a recipe? Ideally want some light desserts that can be made the day before!

lydiangel83 · 17/10/2017 09:36

*was thinking of rather than honking lol

Satsumas, and possibly raspberries if there are any. Not a fan of heavy puddings at all.

lydiangel83 · 17/10/2017 09:44

@ja9r your Christmassy spiced meringue sounds good!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 17/10/2017 13:13

Christmas pud. Anyone who doesn't like it can stuff themselves with satsumas/grapes/nuts/cheeseboard/chocolates. Though over many years I've never had anyone not like my puddings - home made from an old recipe, and not nearly as dark, dense or heavy as your average shop ones.

Well we have to suffer through MIL's Christmas pudding on Christmas day but on Boxing Day I always make Nigella's Alternative christmas pudding which is a steamed chocolate sponge with chocolate sauce - gorgeous. Just make sure you cook it for AGES. Everyone loves it, it's in her Christmas book and online too.

Well we have to suffer through MIL's Christmas pudding on Christmas day Grin I ma glad I don't have to suffer anyone else's cooking.

I’m looking for some sort of baked Christmas cheesecake recipe - any ideas anyone!?

mrsnec · 19/10/2017 17:01

We do Pannettone bread and butter pudding with cranberries and satsumas. But I love a festive Pavlova but usualy have it a few days before as a birthday cake.

MusicToMyEars800 · 19/10/2017 17:18

I love cheesecake, I might do one for this year, Maybe a spiced one or amaretto one.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/10/2017 17:45

I'm doing this cheesecake. Not tried it before, but looks good!

NameChanger22 · 19/10/2017 17:48

We usually have chocolate cake. We don't like Christmas cake, mince pies or Christmas pudding. We never have turkey either.

ja9r · 19/10/2017 23:06

This worked out a treat tonight. The 10 yo managed to assemble it completely independently. I’ll definitely pick up another for the Christmas hols. Lidl. £6

That looks like way more than £6 worth!

Last year I made a Mary Berry chocolate thing. It had a really thin layer of cake on bottom and then a rich chocolate mousse on top - or was lovely!! I might just do it again this year xx

Crumbs1 · 20/10/2017 07:45

Christmas pudding, mince pies and brandy butter.
Christmas ice cream for children or fussy eaters.

lydiangel83 · 20/10/2017 07:57

Ooh @lostlalaloopsy that sounds nice - any chance of a recipe!?

MusicToMyEars800 · 22/10/2017 10:34

NameChanger22 I thought I was the only one who didn't like Christmas pudding, cake and mince pies, I also don't do turkey, Usually a lovely fillet of beef from the butchers.
