Hi I am really struggling for ideas for my 9 year old son for Christmas , the only thing he is really interested in now is his PS4 and YouTube.. he hasn't asked for anything, last year everything was lego but he doesn't have the same interest in it anymore! What has your 9 year olds asked for?

Ds2 hasn’t asked for anything. He says he can’t think of anything.
He bought FIFA18 with his birthday money last week.
So now there is nothing. Hmm

10 YO wants a phone (iPhone 7 -HA - though we will get her something cheaper.

And make-up. Apparently all her friends have it. I was 13 before I got my lovely blue eyeshadow!!!

Afreshstartplease · 04/11/2017 08:44

Main request here xbox one and fifa 18

Also asked for new tom gates and wimpy kid books, football kit and boots

I’m getting mine a raspberry pi. He hasn’t asked for anything!

My 8 year old isn’t your average 8 year old. (he’s mature and not into anything remotely kiddie, he’s also very intelligent for his age)

He’s asked for a gear bike as him and his dad go mountain biking most weekends, and his BMX is unsuitable.

He’s asked for a Segway (however this will be modified by him, so he can remote control it via his iPod Shock) and is planning on doing something with his GoPro... don’t ask me what tho.

Raspberry PI equipment and gaming code equipment... (ds started building his own computers age 6) he’s built a PC, and a gameboy, he’s currently building a laptop with advanced game coding.

He also loves golfing and rock climbing so we have got him yearly membership subscriptions for them.

My DS age 9 has asked for a Nintendo Switch

Deltabeta · 04/11/2017 09:51

My 9 year old has asked for Cosmo robot but at £200 it’s expensive for what could be A play once kind of thing. He does look cool though!
I have the Ninjago Xbox one game
Heelies
King of Tokoyo board game
Hot wires set
Looking at the ZU3d Animation kit
Some Stikbots
And probably a little Lego set

BarbaraOcumbungles · 04/11/2017 09:54

My DS has hot wires, it’s brilliant!

Afreshstartplease · 04/11/2017 13:31

Mine got zu3d last year and its never been out of the box Shock

NotTheMrMenAgain · 04/11/2017 14:58

DD has asked for fencing equipment - but that's very hobby specific and probably not helpful to anyone else!

Floofd · 04/11/2017 15:07

DS (8) has asked for a Nintendo Switch and a bike.

He will be getting the bike but already has a kindle and an old playstation of DPs, plus access to a phone for playing Pokémon Go so we're not adding yet another screen to his collection with the Nintendo- plus theres no way we could afford both.

Other bits will probably be small and cheapish- Pokémon cards, lego, accessoroes for the bike.

Deltabeta · 04/11/2017 15:59

Oh that’s good to know BarbaraOcumbungles he hasn’t asked for it but I’ve seem some people recommending it!

Is is it not worth the money then afreshstartplease? I’ve been looking at all types of animation kits but can’t quite decide. He would probably be just as happy with the £17 stickbot one!

Great ideas on this post thanks everyone 👍

My ds was about to turn 10 last Christmas and was getting all into tech rather than toys so I went for stuff that encouraged useful or creative use of tech rather than mindless games. Mil bought him a flexible, positionable webcam and software to do stop motion animation and we got him a raspberry pi.
