In need of a Lego bargain

Any ideas of how to get Lego cheaper? My lovely boyfriend (first one after break up of my marriage, the most loveliest reward I could ever imagine finding... vom!) is after the Lego Old Fishing Store set. It's a newish one but it's £138!!!!

He is very generous to me and has way more disposable income and always treats me. Not in an overbearing way- he just knows I had a shit life before and wants me to feel loved and special.
I'd love to get him this set and could afford it at full price really. But I'm a bargainista at heart and hate not finding a deal!
Any ideas???

Tedious but checking Amazon/price spy daily to see if it drops, or waiting for smyths to do another £10 off every £50 spend is probably your best bet

Thanks. I have a feeling that's going to be my best bet.
I have been avidly looking on Amazon but i don't think it's going to go down anytime soon as it's so new.

It's not listed on the brickset amazon comparison site yet but worth checking back.

Have you set up an alert on camelcamel so if it drops on uk Amazon you'll get an email alert?

Have you seen lepin on AliExpress? Very good replicas of Lego sets, not sure how legit they are!

We got a set on eBay last year, all still wrapped. But this was a set that Lego had stopped making and I think Amazon were only selling through other sellers.

Put the amazon URL into camelcamelcamel and y will get an alert whenever the price drops below your desired price.

You can also see what the price has been every day for the last year or so, so you can make the price realistic. It looks like it's at the lowest it has been as it is so new so you are probably going to have to pay
Up or convince your OH to go for an older set for now and go for the fishing store in the future.

Thanks all. He is very much an avid AFOL (nicknames and everything Shock) so I don't think buying him a replica would cut it.
I think that I'll either wait until the next Smyths offer or just suck it up and buy it. I can afford it really-I just hate not getting a bargain!
He's so good to me and does deserve it. He probably spent that much last weekend on taking me out for dinner and drinks tbh so it'll be nice to treat him.

Not useful now I guess, but I buy Lego directly from the Lego site - I signed up to their loyalty programme (think Nectar/Tesco) and earn Lego credit - a few times a year they do double points.I save sets to my wishlist and when Lego do their promos I buy my wishlist items. Doing it that way I accumulate credit and can then get sets "cheaper".
Also, again not helpful but Argos do 3 for 2 toys promotions (just ended a few days ago and Lego is generally always included)

P.S. based on "historical trending" Lego will likely be doing double points in the next couple of weeks, so wait til they advertise and then buy that set and you'll have the double credit already for when you want to buy another set. Make sure you sign up to their loyalty programme first before you buy or you won't qualify

I know he has one of those cards. I've seen him use it in store. Shame I can't snaffle his points!
Not many other places do it as well, which is annoying. Symths do, Amazon and maybe John Lewes, but not seen it anywhere else I could use points.

If you buy direct from Lego keep an eye out for a free gift above a certain spend as something should come along before Christmas.

Also use a cash back site (Quidco or Top Cashback) to at least get a % of your spend back!

Do you have any corporate voucher discount schemes at work or through your credit card? E.g. I get a few % off Sainsbury's, Tesco, John Lewis if I buy vouchers through work, also my Natwest credit card has a 20% cash back on JL at the moment

If Argos sell it and it’s in their next 3 for 2 promo keep an eye on amazon as they often drop their prices a third to match them. That way you benefit from a lower price but don’t have to commit to getting 3 items.

I was going to suggest also getting from lego shop if the price is the same as closer to Christmas you often get a bonus set (it was the London bus last year) which you could keep for another time or sell off to go against the cost.

Anyway, my partner buys and sells the Chinese stuff and he loves it! Our house is like a Lego warehouse :)

Only noticeable difference is the Lego icon on the little nodules is missing and you don't get glossy box.

I you're not fussy about the brand, get it, but be prepared... They think half the price means twice as many :)

I have bought Lego sets from Ali Express for the kids. They look exactly the same but come un-boxed. Not sure they'll cut it for an adult fanatic though!
