Naice Christmas chocolates

Last year throughout Christmas we spent every evening hankering after some sort of sweet snack that wasn’t included in our stash of cheap chocolate so we determined to do better this year.

Our plan is to buy things we actually want to eat rather than the normal big boxes of rubbish sweets.

I’ve got a box of tasting club hotel chocolat chocolates coming from the bargain thread which I intend although my willpower is questionable to put in the Christmas cupboard and I really do love after eights.

What else would be on your list of naice chocolates?

If you like dark chocolate willies. Grin Peachy I think you needed a comma there! lowers tone

missyB1 · 08/10/2017 11:55

This Christmas I’m getting in some Hotel Chocolate liqueurs and Godiva truffles - yum yum!

HolgerDanske · 08/10/2017 16:10

We get a few different nicer chocolates.

We would rather have a little of something that actually tastes good, rather than piles of crap. No Roses, no 'Quality' Street.

This year so far we have got:

Godiva dark chocolate truffles with ganache, and some with hazelnuts.

Lindt Lindor Orange truffles.

M&S cocoa-dusted truffles.

We will probably also get some Niederegger marzipan chocolates.

And some Ferrero Rocher because my daughter's really like them.

Nothing on this list is particularly expensive, but still so much nicer than the horrid cheap stuff.

Ugh damn autocorrect. Daughters*

HolgerDanske · 08/10/2017 16:13

Oh yes, I do really like the Sainsbury's champagne truffles!

LEMtheoriginal · 08/10/2017 16:14

Hotel chocolat is the reason my diet has gone to shit

MrsMerryFestive · 08/10/2017 20:53

If you've got Hotel Chocolat then you don't need anything else!

I'd suggest you open the box now so you can work out which favourites you want to stock up on for Christmas.

HolgerDanske · 08/10/2017 21:02

Hotel Chocolat and Artisan du Chocolat have to be bought waaaaay closer to Christmas, otherwise I'd just eat them all!

Lolipoplady · 08/10/2017 21:06

Coco loco do amazing truffles - fair trade, organic, Palm oil free etc. Their salted caramel truffles are genuinely the best I have tasted. They only have a short shelf life though (because they are fresh) so would have to be bought closer to Christmas.

juneybean · 08/10/2017 21:07

I find chocolate brazils a Christmas staple.

What about Monty Bojangles?

Lolipoplady · 08/10/2017 21:08

Sorry it's cocoa loco, www.cocoaloco.co.uk

Loopytiles · 08/10/2017 21:09

Not pricey but delicious: monty bojangles “chocky scoffy” truffle things.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 08/10/2017 21:11

And the HC offer is linked to email addresses, not physical addresses.
I love Rabbitos-fig filled with Brandy truffle dipped in chocolate. Gorgeous..

CanIBuffalo · 08/10/2017 21:14

Montezuma
Godiva
Leonidas
Hotel Chocolat at a push.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/10/2017 21:23

DH doesn't eat chocolate and the DC are RiffRaff would prefer a box of Cadbury Heroes and Ferrero Rocher

I like : Neideregger marzipan but only the plain chocolate/unflavoured non of your fancy flavours

I'll get some of the HC Selectors (about 6 chocolates in a small pack , ) I'll buy maybe 4-6 packs to indulge in over Christmas and New Year

Thorntons Double Cream Mints

Years ago M&S used to do Fresh Cream Chocolates (kept in the fridge) locious but no more Xmas Sad

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/10/2017 21:28

Ooh Costco sell Almond Rocher which are delish.

They have loads of chocolates there but I've not tried them (I never find the Costco Tapas dishing them out but there was a man with Lindor chocolates on Friday)

Any recommendations for the Costco ones?

Lovemusic33 · 08/10/2017 21:50

We have a hotel chocolate discount shop near us, I'm hoping to get some bargains near Christmas, same with Lindt. I would rather buy a couple ice boxes of chocolates rather than a tin or roses.

Can you cancel the Hotel Chocolat subscription at any time or are you stuck with it?

MrsMerryFestive · 08/10/2017 21:57

Always cancellable change. Presumably you need to catch it at the right time though - before the next one is sent out. I believe you have to phone too.

Changerofname987654321 · 08/10/2017 22:01

I may order some then.

Changerofname987654321 · 08/10/2017 22:01

Thanks

Onthehighseas · 08/10/2017 22:04

Ooo another Cocoa Loco fan. Their brownies are divine too. Years ago, they were really helpful when my SiL was very poorly - she couldnt have any lactose and they made her a box lactose free.

QuackDuckQuack · 08/10/2017 22:12

I love www.thesecrettruffletier.co.uk/. I also love Charbonel et Walker.

theaveragewife · 08/10/2017 22:18

If you like Parma violets, Fortnum & Mason rose violet creams with chocolate are lovely!

greendale17 · 08/10/2017 22:28

Been really disappointed with Hotel Chocolat- don't like the taste at all
