How do you display your Christmas cards?

Last year they were up on strings of festive pegs pinned to the walls, but dh does not like pinning stuff to the walls so I am looking for something else this year. It has to be for the wall or door really as every surface is covered with Christmas decorations Grin

Mine sit in a pile not put up Confused. I put the family/special ones up but that's it!

Dc stick theirs on the bedroom doors with blue tack.
We only get family ones and have them on the mantlepieces.

MusicToMyEars800 · 02/10/2017 11:44

Usually hung on string or stood up on window sills etc, But then again we don't get loads of cards Grin

I spray painted an old picture frame and attached parcel string to hang cards on with mini wooden pegs. I don't have a photo of it but Pinterest has lots of similar ones. This is just propped up on the sideboard or I can swap an existing picture off the wall depending on where I want to display the cards.

We have two which are similar to this one - I used to hate having them everywhere so I love them Smile

In a pile on the window ledge usually.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 02/10/2017 17:27

I blutack ours onto the glass doors between the living room and dining room (both sides) and on the doors from the dining room to the conservatory (just the dining room side).

My mum used to have long sheets of silver or gold wrapping paper, and the cards were sellotaped onto that, then hung up using poster hangers. The sheets were reused from year to year, so we had to peel off the sellotape carefully each year, and then the next year we had to place the cards to cover up any bald patches where the tape had pulled off the surface of the paper.

And she had a grading system for cards - only ones she deemed to be sufficiently tasteful were displayed - jolly cartoon Santas and Olde Worlde Scenic pictures, and the like stayed firmly on the pile on the dresser!

We put a hole in the corner with a hole punch then thread through a pipe cleaner and display them all the way up the stair bannisters and wind fairy lights around the handrail

Heratnumber7 · 02/10/2017 17:56

I don’t! They clutter everything up and make a mess.

Oncewaswho · 02/10/2017 18:23

We have a wire rack similar to that one posted by Iknow but freestanding. Holds about 100 of them.

snowmanshoes · 02/10/2017 18:32

I staple them to ribbon and then tape the ribbon to the top of the door. looks good and doesn't leave any mess

snowmanshoes · 02/10/2017 18:33

Like bbpp picture but on the door in the front room

BaublesAndGlitter · 02/10/2017 18:45

We tie string along the picture rail in the living room and hang them off that (DH works in a school so we get a lot of cards)!

picklemepopcorn · 02/10/2017 18:47

Hang a ribbon or string down the side of the door frame, pinning it on the top where you can't see the pin. Staple or peg the cards on to it. Or run the strings between two door frames.

MrsPworkingmummy · 02/10/2017 18:52

Family cards on one of the mantlepieces, with other cards (like the ones our DD brings home from school) stuck around window frames and door lintels with blue tack . Our wedding anniversary is on the 21st December so we usually have cards coming out of our ears!

secondhoneymoon · 02/10/2017 20:09

If you have bookshelves, you can stick the bit that's written on between books - quite effective as long as you don't need to go hunting for books for the duration.
I also hang some over picture frames. Apart from that it's ribbon pinned to the top of doors as others have said

christmasunicorn · 02/10/2017 21:08

I get some ribbon (the parcel wrapping type, not the silky ribbon) and put it all the way around the top of my living room walls and hang the cards over them. Usually we get 3 walls filled but last year only managed two. It was a very disappointing year for Christmas cards

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/10/2017 07:31

Blu-Tack, down the side of/above door frames, and any other surface where it'll stick and they won't be in the way.
