70s style banisters

So this is our first year having 70s style horizontal plank banisters rather than upright spindley ones. It's impossible to find pictures of this sort decorated for christmas. What do you do with yours?

I am probably not the best person to advise as my Xmas decs are very low-key, but when I had them in my last house I found them perfect for sticking the Christmas cards onto!

I've lived in houses with both and never decorated any of them but I guess you could put suction hooks along them to hold a lightweight garland, or stick bows on with blu-tack or similar.

Years ago DM bought something that was supposed to be a silvery garland with silver stars but actually resembled barbed wire when wrapped around horizontal bannisters so our hallway used to resemble the berlin wall. Festive!

Some years we make paper chain people out of pretty wrapping paper and bluetack them to the panels, then we spiral thin strips of the same or matching paper up the verticals.

Other years we drape bunting: tie one end to a vertical, drape it along the panel, behind or around the next vertical, the drape it along the next panel, etc. Doing that with tinsel doesn't look nearly as nice, but I have draped a fine chain that way, then hooked little baubles into the links that lie along the flat panels.
