Is 3.4 too young for playmobil?

I was thinking not the 123 stuff (he'll be too old for that I think?) but the next level up. Says 4+ on the box. Will he be too young?

At the mo he's obsessed with paw patrol and I know this phase will end at some point therefore I don't want to spend more money on it so wanted to guide him in the direction of something with more longevity?

Obviously a great age for Playmobil but bei careful with the big expensive buildings. At about 5 DS1 and his friend took the Playmobil hospital to pieces as if it were a Lego set (they were usually to be trusted playing upstairs for a bit). We'd long since lost the instructions and a couple of parts seemed to have gone astray, and we never got it put back together properly...

I take photos of the box and the instructions page for playmobil and lego. I've had this issue too!

Just a quick heads up but as with Lego you can research all the instructions online for the Playmobil sets so no reason to worry about it being taken apart (that's half the fun Wink).

I second the boats. We have a large one which is still played with in the bath. You can buy little motors for them as well for when he's a bit older.

Certainly not to old for 123 my six year old will happily play with it.

The adventure tree house is brilliant. DS received it at 3yo. We have loads. Keep all instructions as someone said upthread. You can buy spares straight from Playmobil website. You can buy people and small accessories v cheaply which make great stocking fillers.

DS got the fire engine for his 3rd birthday and loves it x

We got a playmobil advent calendar last year and am planning on getting another this year.

We over invested in play mobil one xmas when ds was 3.10 and regretted it. We got the big knights castle and my parents got him the baddies (dragon castle I think) and some extra sets too, a couple of weeks on he never really played with it again. He didn't like spending so much time setting it up to play as all the horses/men fell over all the time whenever he bumped it. Lego doesn't have the same problem.

It is expensive for what it is so I would recommend a couple of small pieces to see if he likes it before buying any bigger sets. The only good news was it sold very quickly on gumtree 2 years later when I got fed up dusting it.

DD had the playmobil advent calendar last year which was good, loads of animals & Santa on Christmas Eve... think it was about £20?

I feel like it's a toy they can grow into - mine loves it but there are fiddly bits he can't manage yet which frustrates him at times. Still great play value. My nearly 4 yr old got the ladder fire truck last Christmas and its really a lovely toy. He also got the fire station which isn't used at all though because it's more of a shell and there isn't much to actually do with it tbh (and the doors on it fall off at nauseam).

Between my kids we also have the space shuttle/launch which my 4 yr old loved more than the recipient, one of the pirate ships which is gorgeous and the pirate island which is a lot of fun.

This year our 4 yr old wants the new pyramid and I think we'll probably give it a go.

I suspect that as their play ability gets more sophisticated Play Mobil will retain, even grow in its appeal (I hope anyway Smile)
