What is the tackiest Christmas decoration you own?

Occasionally, a box of 'tat' appears in our staff room which we can peruse and buy from a local salesman. Usually, I ignore, but this time, I couldn't help but buy a Christmas Elf Door (pic attached). During December, I will quietly swap my daughter's fairy door in her bedroom for this, and we'll make a fuss of the fact the fairies are decorating too.

I think this has to be the tackiest Christmas decoration that we now own - it also lights up! (I also fancy buying the Matalan Santa toilet seat cover so that might take the number 1 spot). This got me wondering, what is the tackiest decoration you own (and display)? Have you got any pics?

I absolutely love Christmas and we try to make the house feel magical for our daughter - I guess a fair degree of tat is included/expected to achieve that.

I love Christmas and as much as I try to only have tasteful decorations I think you have to have some awful fun stuff. Yes to the toilet seat cover! Also Christmas loo paper.
My DH loves all those decorations that local pubs use all foil paper chains so when we had a 3 bed house he was able to decorate the spare room ( and door kept closed ), however we are now in a two bed so not sure what I will do!

In our house downstairs is in my opinion very tasteful with a huge tree with 800 lights on it, christmas ornaments, etc.

Upstairs.....not so much! Santa toilet set, christmas loo paper, christmas rubber ducks for the bathroom, Santa bath mat, christmas duvet covers on all four beds including my king size one.

Can't wait 🎅 🎗

We have a lot of shit that sings. 😂😂
We used to have a 4ft tall illuminated santa. It was creepy. We gave it to the MIL she loves it, it comes out every year. 🎅🎅
MIL gave us loads of her old decorations when me and DH moved in together, some of them are really nice others I look at and think ooh no, sorry you're not allowed on my tree.
MIL (spot the theme) bought dd a elf door last xmas for xmas?? Anyway dd wants to put it up this year so somehow ive got to convince dd that a fluffy penguin has managed to squeeze his fat ass through the elf door, because I'm not having an elf move in for December too. (The teddy is tradition) 🤔🤔🤔

I have snowman lights - I love them and they give a very soft light, but they are essentially plastic tat snowmen with fairy lights in. Dm hates them Grin

I tend to stick to quite classic, scandi decorations or hand me down ones but MIL is great. Her tree is colour-coordinated and beautiful but she also put ups random ornaments everywhere that I love but DH does this face HmmConfused
My favourites are her 'Christmas chicken' (a chicken ornament that she put a dolls Christmas dress and hat on), a carousel that plays jingle bells but sounds so digital that it sounds a bit broken and a hippy snow man that sings jingle bells and dances a bit but also randomly says "right on" and "let's dance dude." Grin
Apparently she used to stick with classy decorations but now buys whatever makes her laugh (which is why are decs are so lovely - she gets rid of the beautiful ones to make room)!

HandbagCrazy · 25/09/2017 22:14

*which is why our decs - sorry Blush

Babyblues14 · 25/09/2017 22:19

Not got them yet but i will definetly be buying the christmas pudding bin bags this year Grin
Spotted them in home bargains a few weeks ago

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/09/2017 17:07

I saw an Elf Door very similar to that one MrsP - only the fact I have teenagers and I couldn't carry any more stuff prevented me from buying it.
Today though, my non-sensible side has taken over and next time I'm in B&M, I will search it out Xmas Grin

I have had several tacky decs I have to say. When my DS was little we had a singing Christmas Tree Xmas Blush , DS used to shout "Sting" (he meant sing ) to get it carolling .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/09/2017 17:08

Oh and every year Christmas Loo Roll . Both toilets . 1st Dec until mid March New Year .

KC225 · 27/09/2017 18:29

My elderly neighbour bought us two Christmas fleece throws because we had helped her out during the year. They are full on multicoloured monstrosities, one is of a giant snow man decorating a Christmas tree. The other is an old fashioned Santa with sleigh and presents. I assume they are made by the same company that makes the 'wolf' fleece tops in the back of the Sunday supplements.

Didn't have the heart to charity shop them or bin them as the neighbour was so lovely but we tucked out of sight. Anyway, the following year the kids (aged 3) found them at the bottom the decorations box and insisted we put them over the sofas (instead of beautiful white company throws). Elderly neighbour came in to see the tree and my DD said the tree and the fleeces were her favourite decorations ever. Neighbour was so happy.

Seven years on, we have moved abroad and the neighbour has passed away but we get the Christmas fleeces out. Wouldn't seem Christmas without them.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/09/2017 19:33

B&M had it yesterday
M&S do quite naice loo-roll (pretty trees, silver stars type)

My No1 Favourite is The Snowman ( look in Aldi/Wilkos)

I had polarbear with a little gold crown on (I think M&S . Who could wipe their bum on The Snowman Xmas Grin )

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 27/09/2017 19:35

Hand knitted gnomes.

My mum made them. They have special loops to hang them on the tree.

I also have bright pink fluffy baubles.

HeyMicky · 27/09/2017 19:39

We have an absolutely horrendous light up polar bear that the previous owners left in the loft.

We have redecorated the house, redone the garden, all very classy and sophisticated...

...Until Xmas when I put that ugly glowing bastard to squat amongst the bushes in our garden

I luffs him

LexieLulu · 27/09/2017 19:43

I have a pink elvis bauble. All my tree is red and gold, with my one pink elvis bauble.

We got married in Vegas by elvis, I do love it!

Unicorn81 · 27/09/2017 19:44

Well, we have just decorated and can finally show off our tackiest decorative tat. Even I'm abit unsure about the Father Christmas bathroom set, but what can you expect for £3 on ebay??
