disclaimer. This thread is up early because I am old and tired and need to go to bed. It's actually 99 from midnight

That sounds like a really good idea woolly, we have morrisons and Sainsbury's here so I'll look into those more.

Luckily hubby will be having xmas Eve off this year (for the first time ever... being a chef is a pain at this time of year!) so collecting could work!

I started to have this massive panic when I read about people booking slots in so soon - I started thinking how on earth can I do my shopping list in October when I haven't even got anything for baby to sleep in yet!!

Seriously need to get organised...

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2017 21:11

You just put enough in the order to reserve the spot and check out. You can then amend up to whatever your chosen supermarket's deadline is. It's not set in stone!

FridgeCut · 01/10/2017 21:15

Ocado tell me I can book my slot this week. So what do people put on that order and which day do you receive it? I can never quite work it out.

mrsfandt · 01/10/2017 21:18

It's all so new to me this online food shopping lark! Fab to know I can pop it in and change it though!

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2017 21:26

I do 23rd so there's time to fix any issues.

Mine is usually my normal weekly shop plus all the fresh stuff / ingredients needed, so cheese, cream, cream cheese etc. I don't do a turkey and will buy our Boxing Day lamb in between now and then (whenever it's reduced) and freeze it.

I buy all snacks / drinks in the lead up.

mrsfandt · 01/10/2017 21:48

Oh gosh, I hadn't even thought about the cheese 🙈 i always get our cheese from booths and I don't know if they do delivery... maybe this year I'll give in and let hubby just order it through work (although choosing our cheeses is my favourite thing to do, all the testing that goes with it an all. And I'll finally be able to eat them after months of avoiding stuff!)

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2017 21:55

Booths do delivery if you spend over £50 I think (their ordering opens this week).

I get cheese from there too, but it's a bit dear to get the quantity I like! 🙈

mrsfandt · 01/10/2017 21:58

@NoWordForFluffy I do always spend a fortune on cheese in there... it's not a good habit is it!

If I knew DS2 would make a natural appearance into the world, I'd feel better about actually venturing there to do cheese (it's only a 10 minute walk from home!) but there's a pretty big chance he's going to be evicted out the sunroof, so it would make it trickier.

All these things to think on, none of which have made it into my list of things to do yet, I've been too busy making mince pies!!

My poor DS has an ear infection. He’s currently crying his little heart out. Poor sausage. 😢

HairsprayBabe · 02/10/2017 08:24

I love cheese with all my stomach heart!

We always buy "too much" but it never goes to waste!

mrsfandt · 02/10/2017 08:37

@HairsprayBabe neither does ours! I always vow to try and spend less, and usually end up spending even more every year!

I've been promised a whole vacherin once this little monkey scrambles his way out!

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2017 09:04

I adore cheese. It’s that which will be my downfall! 🧀 🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀

FireflyGirl · 02/10/2017 11:35

DSis is 8.5 months pregnant, and she has been missing cheese too. We're not doing 'adult' presents this year, but I plan to buy her a camembert as a present from DS. Think that'll go down well... Grin

DH and DS are lactose intolerant, and DMIL is mildly as well, so it's usually just me eating the cheese. I love Wensleydale with cranberries... I'd live on that given chance! DH thinks I am a disgrace to the name of dairy eater, and would love to stuff his face with blue cheese, but nyah!

Hope your DS is feeling better soon, Fluffy. Earache is one of the worst, and there's so little you can do for them.

FridgeCut · 02/10/2017 11:49

My asda order came, every single thing is damaged and the santa butter dish was smashed and covered the floor in shards :( And one item (the awesome count down bus) wasn't sent though it is on the invoice ;(

HairsprayBabe · 02/10/2017 11:54

Complain on twitter with pictures fridge

or email the ceo on [email protected]

you will get much better than a replacement!

MuddlingThroughLife · 02/10/2017 15:08

Been to Superdrug today and bought a load of make up bits for the girls stockings and also a makeup brush set for dd2. Feels good to know their stockings must surely be full or almost full by now!

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/10/2017 16:32

Superdrug is fab Muddling. They nearly always have 3for2 on my DDs makeup brands do I get more bang for my buck.

Mrsmadevans · 02/10/2017 17:26

Fluffy I hope ds is better very soon
Fridge that is bad luck my dear
Woolly I agree Superdrug is fab off to shop online in Superdrug
Have got a stray ferral cat with a manky ear I can't take him to the vets any ideas please ? I can' take him because he is wilder than the wild thing in the woods and there won't be anything left of me or the vet lol

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2017 17:29

Thank you for your good wishes for DS. He’s had a good sleep and loads of gunk came out of his ear while he slept. 🤢 Grim, but necessary, I feel.

He appears to have a touch more colour today. I think regular painkillers and antibiotics are helping him nicely.

I hope you get a good resolution from Asda. And that their Direct customer service is better than their food!

Mrs, no idea re your cat. Sounds dangerous!

SideOrderofSprouts · 02/10/2017 20:12

Speak to cats protection league. They may have a trap you can use

I twitched for DD last night. But it was some Lego shed spotted and asked for in the Boots catalogue at a great price. Xmas Grin

HairsprayBabe · 03/10/2017 09:14

I don't know what to get for DP this year, we will probably set a pretty low budget £50ish for main present, £20 for after dinner present and stocking.

I am happily ticking lots of other people off my list when I see little bits and bobs here and there.

Minster2012 · 03/10/2017 09:21

mrs call rspca to deal with cat? Do they still do that? Yesterday was very grim here, thought DDog & I were going to get blown away walking, today it's glorious sun again, v weird! But I was collecting things for garlands & trying to spot Sloe berries in new area, seems slim pickings round here (not like the over 10 litres I made last year in old area!) Smile

Quiet yesterday. Have we all given up?!

BiddyPop · 04/10/2017 09:02

OOOh nnooo Fluffy, never say that! We were probably all a bit busy with a little thing called "real life" interfering (I know I was - I finally sorted out the autumn programme, at least the paperwork part of it, for Cubs - although I did then possibly volunteer to organize the girls' hockey team for school (in the face of serious lack of interest amongst other parents), luckily the teacher organizing the training part realizes that I am a "doer" like her, and will only allocate it to me if no-one else volunteers).

Today, I plan to sew together the cardigan (in the hopes that I can get the neck and border done in time to post to my DF, to bring to my DB, otherwise I have to rely on Canadian post which is sllllooooooowwww), and collect DD from a gaelic football match after school, and write the minutes of a committee meeting 2 weeks ago, and at work finalise 1 doc that is awful and then finish the minutes of a meeting 4 weeks ago...oops!

I have though managed to tick off (if I find my sheets) a few more things on my Holiday Grand Plan - not in their proper order but I have done a wash on the dishwasher (the appliance - not just another cycle cleaning dishes!), cleared out most of the study (and washed the windows and glass in there for the first time in a few years!), and put away most of the paperwork for the Cubs. And I checked my wrap and mail supplies, and don't need stamps for cards this year!!
