Argos 3 for 2 might not be happening

Typically Argos run at least one or two three for two offers on the toys in the lead up to Christmas the first one is normally at the end of Sept.

Was talking to a sales assistant in our local store and she was saying that the rumour is it's not happening as they've been taken over by Sainsbury's now.

Silly if they don't. Other retailers will hopefully do similar.

Any chance the sales staff have been instructed not to let on that it's coming?

I work in retail and we are told to deny any knowledge of upcoming sales even though we knew for months in advance the date they are starting.

It wasn't that kind of conversation. We were talking about present buying in general and the info was volunteered not obtained IYKWIM. As staff I think they want the 3 for 2

It's not that good of a deal anyway is it? They put the prices up beforehand

phoenix1973 · 14/09/2017 13:12

Stay sexy youre right.
I always find whatever i want is out of stock...until the offers finish then mysteriously they're back in stock Hmm

Sainsbury's has owned Argos for a good while now, so that's not the reason, as they've had 3 for 2 deals since the take over.

I doubt they'd stop it, to be honest, as they'd lose a share of the Christmas market, and probably the market in general.

Agree with staysexy.

Unless you want 3 big ticket items it's not a good deal, the last 3 for 2 I had picked out items a week in advance but the no before the prices went up (one item went from £24.99 to £37.99! with no indication it was a price reduction or anything). I managed to get the 3 I wanted plus another item from Toys R us for £3 less than it would've cost in the Argos "sale" Hmm

andbabymakesthree · 14/09/2017 17:15

The three items were buy are of equal value and very rarely reduced as frequently sell out for Christmas. It's worth it for us for those items but agree you definitely need to shop around to make sure that you are getting best value etc

I got 3 for 2 on Lego last time after checking prices elsewhere. While 1 of them wasn't entirely 'free' I did save about £10 compared to buying them from a mixture of places elsewhere.

OvO · 14/09/2017 19:15

The good thing about the Argos 3 for 2 is that Amazon price match a lot of it. So if you only want 1 item you can get it for a bargain.

I think they'll still do it. I bet it's a huge part of their profits so can't see it not going ahead.

Yep ours is seasonal Lego too
