Toys for 8 month old?

newyorkgirl · 13/09/2017 15:41

I know lots of people will say babies don't need gifts for Christmas won't remember etc But I selfishly can't wait to go shopping and wrap gifts for my little boy even if he will be more interested in the wrapping paper!

What toys does/did your 8 month old like as that's the age he will be at Christmas and also what gifts did you use over the next few months as il get him a few toys he can 'grow into'

Got the vtech walker ordered ✔️

Stacking cups. Simple but seemed to grow with baby and ended up being favourite bath toy

I no longer have an 8 month old but ditto on the Tomy squeaky eggs.
Tomy octopals bath toy.
Leap Frog music table (from the moment they stand until nearly 3 years of age, they love it).
Shape sorter.

Can highly recommend 'That's not my...' books, Tupperware Shape-O shape sorter, stacking rings, Jellycat soft toys, little push along wagon/truck, Munchkin duck shaped bath pourers, Halilit musical toys esp. bells, maracas

Tomy squeaky eggs are still a favourite with my 3 year old!
DD2 will be 9 months at christmas. She's getting a walker, a soft toy, stacking rings, and a toy remote.

My son was 8 months last Christmas and this and stacking cups were by far his favourite toys. This really helped him with his crawling (he'd just started last Christmas) and he was desperately chasing after it. He's almost 18 months and now and still plays with it all the time.

Sqeaky eggs definitely. I didnt realise dd loved them until she was 18 months old and stupidly thought she would outgrow them too quickly.

Shes 3 now and still makes a beeline for them at playgroup.

Her favourite toy from that age which she still plays with are the fisher price buckets. They are not just a bath toy we have had them on the beach etc. Ideal size for first walkers to toddle around with. Dd spent hours walking up and down the garden with them Grin and now she uses them in the bath.

Best toy ever is the Galt frog in a box... it is like a jack in the box but the frog leaps right out and although it kind of startled dd (at 6/7 months) she laughed so much at it. It takes skills to master it so a wee one won't work it alone, but it is still enjoyed as a missile launcher by ds age almost 5... 8 years on!!!

I saw a crawling teletubbie toy advert the other day!
