I love my "Nigella Christmas" book and get it out every year. I don't do many recipes from it but it's a beautiful book with gorgeous photos. It makes me feel all Christmassy and inspired and I love looking through cookery books.

Do you have a favourite christmas cookery book?

I would agree with Nigellas, I come back to that every year. Delias is good for classic recipes, and the hairy bikers did one a few years ago which has lots of lovely meat recipes! Ooh I can't chose...

just5morepeas · 08/09/2017 12:58

Oh, didn't know there was a Hairy Bikers one, off to look that up on Amazon now. Grin

As a long time vegetarian my go-to is Rose Elliott

Chestnut and Red Wine En Croute is wonderful Smile

Sarah Raven's is lovely to look at and read. www.amazon.co.uk/Sarah-Ravens-Complete-Christmas-Raven/dp/0747595100/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1504874285&sr=8-5&keywords=sarah+raven&tag=mumsnetforum-21

I also agree with Delia and Hairy Bikers. Nigella is my favourite though.

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 08/09/2017 13:40

I quite like the Mary Berry's one.

Fantasticmissfoxy · 08/09/2017 13:44

Ooh Delia Smith's Christmas all day long!! Start watching the tv episodes in about November to get myself into the Christmas spirit! (I have them on vhs 😳) Nigella's is a more recent favourite but also very good. Mary Berry rounds things off nicely. I also have a Martha Stewart one from Amazon that I love even if i have to convert all the temperatures / cup and stick measures

HandbagCrazy · 08/09/2017 15:21

I was given the Jamie Oliver one last year and love it. I know a lot of people don't like him on here but that book was written for someone with very little confidence but lots of Christmas enthusiasm like me!

NotAPuffin · 08/09/2017 15:41

I can't stand Jamie Oliver but I also got it last year and loved it. I've loved Nigella Christmas for years and my copy is scruffy and has pages stuck together with orange zest.

NeitherNowtNorSummat01 · 08/09/2017 19:11

A third vote for Jamie. I can't stand him but we followed his recipes for most of the veg and the gravy last year and it was the nicest Christmas dinner I've ever had

LexyD1986 · 08/09/2017 20:45

Yep I loved my Jamie book, have even incorporated some of the veggies into my Sunday roast

inchyrablue · 08/09/2017 20:48

Nigella, Jamie and Sarah Raven in our house. I'm not sure I actually cook anything from Sarah Raven, I just waft around thinking I have her life.

TheWoollybacksWife · 08/09/2017 21:21

I'm coveting the Irish Countrywoman's Association Book of Christmas which was recommended on a Christmas thread on here. It looks like it covers the whole season with recipes, crafts and home preparation - I hope it will be like a Christmas Good Housekeeping magazine without the adverts. Xmas Grin

Jessica78 · 08/09/2017 21:36

It's Delia for me, but am excited by the Nigel Slater book that's coming out this year!

greatoceanroad · 08/09/2017 21:54

Nigel Slater has a Christmas book coming out this year, will be getting it for research purposes obviously.

Isadora2007 · 08/09/2017 22:22

Can any of you lovely baking types tell me a fool proof simple ish Christmas cake recipe? Fairly classic cake please. And when to bake as an thinking it could be quite soon?

troodiedoo · 08/09/2017 22:26

Another vote for Nigella. There is also a festive section in Nigellissima that's very tasty.

MattAffleck · 08/09/2017 22:27

I love Nigella's Christmas book but my absolute fave is the Christmas chapter in Feast. Also do love Delia's. Have also seen Nigel Slater's book but. Urgh. I'll have to get though.

I use the Christmas cake recipe from Pink whisk, though I've altered it slightly by substituting figs for cherries. My fruit is already in soaking but that's because DH likes to eat it from the beginning of December or thereabouts

SimplyNigella · 09/09/2017 09:56

I also love the Nigella book but have my eye on the Nigel Slater too.

secondhoneymoon · 09/09/2017 10:48

I have loads of Christmas books and good old Delia is the most used.
Sometimes the oldies are the best! Probably why I've failed to find a better cake recipe than Be-Ro !!!

inchyrablue · 09/09/2017 10:58

Oh dear, I just accidentally ordered the Nigel one. I'm going to need a whole shelf just for Christmas book soon. Blush

Rumplestaleskin · 09/09/2017 11:05

Nigella is a staple here. Love the bubble and squeak recipe in Feast too. I'm sneaking a few Jamie recipes too, this year. Also looking out for Nigel Slater's offering this year.

Brittbugs80 · 09/09/2017 13:22

I was going to buy the Mary Berry Christmas Collection but got it from the Library this morning. Wish I'd picked up a couple more but I walked up and they were heavy alongside the shopping I had!

RuggerHug · 09/09/2017 17:17

Another vote for Nigella. And thewooly I bought the irish country woman's association one based on that. Really loved going through it (in June Blush). Brought back loads of lovely Christmas memories too!

Hulder · 09/09/2017 17:35

Christmas in my DM's house came courtesy of Josceline Dimbleby's Christmas Book - I think over the years we made almost every recipe Grin

It's only 1p on Amazon, I think I might treat myself.
