It's been a while since I've had to buy for a little one, what is the best present for a 1 year old?

Thank you

i love wooden toys for that age, something like a pushalong with wooden blocks, or one of those small wooden activity cubes.

We got the above pull along train for DD at about that age. It lasted really well & got played with a lot.

RubyGoat · 27/08/2017 15:19

Should add, I just found the first picture I could see, we got it from a local toyshop!

Ride on toy, wooden xylophone, pop up tent, bells, duplo

AldiAisleOfCrap · 27/08/2017 15:19

Tomy squeeze eggs.

AldiAisleOfCrap · 27/08/2017 15:19

Squeak

MistressofIndecision · 27/08/2017 15:22

Thank you both, @LegoCaltrops I love that train and have ordered it! I need to buy early as they live overseas and we are going to visit in a couple of months and want to take Christmas presents with us so they actually get them on time.

Thanks again

These two have been hugely popular with my son. He got them both when he was 1 and played with them lots until wee after his second birthday

MistressofIndecision · 27/08/2017 15:36

Thanks Neither, you've reminded me that my son had a push along elephant that he loved

Glad I could help. I've actually still got the train (somewhere) in the hope that one day I'll have another baby before I get too old. So many toys don't last but that one really has.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 28/08/2017 13:46

I have bought the furry pushalong dogs on wheels for more than one of that age, I.e. nearly walking or soon will be. Little Gds now enjoying the one I bought for Gdd - he's not yet walking on his own but can go quite a way pushing doggie. He has a nice squeaky tail, too!
I got that one at John Lewis but it was end of line.

redexpat · 28/08/2017 19:46

Yy to the tomy eggs! They were reduced at the entertainer last time I xhecked.

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 28/08/2017 19:51

I came on to say Tomy eggs too! Rite of passage!

Weebles good too.

whiteviolet · 28/08/2017 22:01

Things that went down well with my 1 year old DD:

Wooden stacking rings
Push along truck/trolley
Little Tikes rocking horse - loved it then, still loves it at almost 3yo
Shape sorter
ELC star links
Wendy house
Balls (like ball pit balls)
Books like Peepo, Baby's Catalogue
Toy musical tractor

Plastic Tea set is always my 'go to' for first birthdays

Shemozzle · 31/08/2017 12:17

Following. My son is 1 a few days before Christmas so I have double presents to buy. He is my third so we have everything already. I hate to say but my daughter got that train or a different brand for her first birthday off a relative and I hated it with the fire of a thousand suns! It is incredibly annoying to tidy away as each little peace needs to be put in a specific place, and it's not that simple (I often had to google) and she never ever showed any interest in it.

SippingSipsmith · 01/09/2017 07:11

Scuttlebug?

SippingSipsmith · 01/09/2017 07:13

Sorry just googled and what I actually meant was a wheels bug - cute wooden ride on in various animal designs.

SippingSipsmith · 01/09/2017 07:13

Wheely bug! Sorry autocorrect!!

MistressofIndecision · 02/09/2017 19:12

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone, it's great to be buying for a little one again 😁
