Way to make it special for a 2 year old?

Last year DS was more interested in the boxes and wrapping paper than presents - and the main thing he enjoyed was hanging baubles on the tree during the whole lead up to Christmas day!

When did you start Christmas traditions with your kids like stockings and Santa and Christmas Eve stuff etc? And how much will a 2.5yr old really understand?

Following with interest as I was going to ask exactly the same...my boy will be 2y 7m and his christmases so far have been all about the wrapping paper and boxes - he was pretty nonplussed when I excitedly presented his stocking last year Grin Am hoping he'll be more aware of what's going on this year esp as I'm sure nursery will talk about it a lot.

My son was 2 years and 4 months last year. He only had a vague understanding. He knew Christmas was about presents and that 'Father Christmas' would bring him toys, but he didn't grasp the whole tradition of Father Christmas as such. We still left milk and a mince pie but he didn't really get it
He got heaps of presents and was totally over whelmed so don't go mad. We were still opening gifts on the 28th and he would get bored.
