Christmassy / festive / winter names

I know I know, this should probably be in the 'baby names' section, but you lot are all do lovely and Christmassy, I thought you may have some lovely ideas 😊🎅🏻

DS2 is due end of November, so could well end up being a December baby.

We've got a few names on our list already - generally very traditional, strong, solid names.

However, id really like to consider a more wintery / festive name if he does happen to be born in December (or November I suppose!) , perhaps as a middle name (or even first if it's right!)

Any thoughts?! The obvious one is Nicholas - perfect if he arrives on 6th!
We knew we would use holly some where in the name if it had been a girl and born in December - just really struggling for a boys alternative.

And before anyone thinks I'm obsessed with Christmas - I am, but I would also like to give a nod to the time of year he is born 😊

KindleBueno · 24/08/2017 18:12

I used to work with a Nollag. It means Christmas in Irish

Knope2020 · 24/08/2017 18:12

Holly
Ivy 😁
You could go full on biblical with Balthazar, melchior or gaspar!?

mailfuckoff · 24/08/2017 18:12

Don't do it! It's horrible being a Christmas baby without being reminded of it every time your name is mentioned

Copperspot · 24/08/2017 18:14

Joseph
Noel
Gabriel
Christopher
Christian
Casper (one of the 3 wise men)

Knope2020 · 24/08/2017 18:14

Carol?
Robin?

ShatnersBassoon · 24/08/2017 18:16

Winter is a name.

Or there's Buddy, Clarence, Kevin, Harry, Marv...

SideOrderofSprouts · 24/08/2017 18:29

I have a Holly.

She was born in June...

What about Arthur (Christmas) 😝

That1950sMum · 24/08/2017 18:32

Jesus?

Heratnumber7 · 24/08/2017 18:34

Prancer, Dasher, Donner, Blixen, Vixen, Rudolph or Comet any good?

TarquinGyrfalcon · 24/08/2017 18:51

Leon - Noel backwards. Christmas link, but not too Christmassy.

tootsieglitterballs · 24/08/2017 18:59

@SideOrderofSprouts Arthur is actually on the list but not because of it being connected to Arthur Christmas!

He's actually due last week of November, so it's just a nod to the season really - not something obvious!

We used our favourite names on DS as his first and middle name as we thought we would only have 1 child!

I genuinely love the name winter for girl, but alas, he is a boy!

There was a chap who worked in a shop near us called Rudolph... that's just a tad too 'out there' for us.

Casper was actually on the list last time - but we went much more traditional.

Winter was a boy's name in Victorian times.

I know it dropped out of use, but is it's traditional gender really unthinkable now?

Petalflowers · 24/08/2017 20:02

Joseph
Robin
Noel
Christian
Crispin
Gabriel
Storm

Guy - after Guy Fawkes, if he is born early in November

SideOrderofSprouts · 24/08/2017 20:04

I know a boy called winter

twinklestar2 · 24/08/2017 20:09

Joseph
Robin
Christian / Christopher
Rudolph

TheWoollybacksWife · 24/08/2017 20:13

Nathan or Nathaniel. Similar stem to "Nativity" and both (approximately) mean gift from God.

Monr0e · 24/08/2017 20:26

Jack (Frost)
Nicholas (Saint)
Aspen
Robin
Winter
Whittaker (from the white field)
Bhodi (Bhuddist festival held in winter)

OhOurBilly · 25/08/2017 10:52

DS was born last week of Nov, had he been a girl, Dh suggested Winter. Our last name and game of thrones made it impossible though. We also liked Robin/Robyn.

We also joked about Beth(lehem) and Naz(areth). 😊

GoGoGazelle · 25/08/2017 15:14

Rudi (instead of, or short for Rudolph)
Robin
Snow

NapQueen · 25/08/2017 15:15

Jon (Snow)

soundsystem · 25/08/2017 15:16

My DS is a Caspar - we thought it was a nod to the season without being overly festive.

Noel?

tootsieglitterballs · 25/08/2017 16:42

@NapQueen thanks for the image of Jon snow in my head now... how am I going to get any work done now!
