299 days till Christmas Eve

So we're out of the 300's - it'll fly by! I should explain Fairy Tinsel is Santa's helper who shines a blue lantern (torch in an old blue carrier bag DH has strategically placed in the garden at bath time) on Xmas Eve, and only shines the lantern when the children are going to bed....they used to go rigid with excitement, DH would retrieve said bag and torch whilst I was tucking them in (wink).....
I think my Dad made the story up, I haven't heard of it elsewhere - the carrier bag trick was perfected by DH after attempts with other tights etc. had failed. Dad used to say she was the fairy on the top of the tree, seemed plausible to me at the time.
Anyway, that's who I am (grin)
I still collect the cheap blue bags in a tin!

I'm hoping to be even more organized this year, and desperately trying to get back into crafting. I've already got some bargin 5p a roll Christmas disney wrapping paper which will be good not only for my children but step daughters and nieces. Not really bought any presents yet as have several childrens birthdays in the first half of the year.

FairyTinsel · 28/02/2017 13:37

Have you seen the lovely handmade decoupage baubles some have made - just thinking of the 5p wrapping paper, you could tart up some old plastic baubles? I've been thinking of having a go, some of them look wonderful!

Mrsmadevans · 28/02/2017 17:47

Oooh into the 200s ......Xmas Grin Result.

I have a box of Yankee Candles (Christmas ones) in my wardrobe which I was going to keep for December....... but they smell really nice so I reckon they'll be lit well before.

I can't believe it is March already!

mrsmortis · 01/03/2017 12:59

Can I join? I can't believe I've only just found this thread. I love Christmas (DH humours me) and like many of you I started buying gifts for Christmas this year before Christmas last year.

AdoraBell · 01/03/2017 14:49

70 you've reminded me that I have some Yankee candles left over from a box I bought last November 😁 they could well contribute to DDs stockings.

DearMrDilkington · 01/03/2017 14:50

You bunch are mad!!Shock

BiddyPop · 01/03/2017 15:46

Yup! Xmas Grin

But that's why the Christmas Board is mostly not on view for most of the year, so that we can be quietly mad amongst ourselves and not bother those who only want to think about Christmas on 23rd December every year.

I just pity all those running around like Lance Corporal Jones saying "don't panic Mr Mannering, don't panic"!!

DearMrDilkington · 01/03/2017 15:54

I wish I could be as organized. I thought I was early when I start present buying in September!

mrsmortis · 01/03/2017 16:08

DearMrDilkington - I can't wait till Sept to start thinking of Christmas (though I don't necessarily have to buy things in the Jan sales). I ship presents to China, Oz and the US. If I catch the last posting dates for shipping by sea I save so much money. But I have to have posted them by mid-September. If I don't then postage costs me more than the presents do...

SideOrderofSprouts · 01/03/2017 18:41

Nah early is when you start in december for the following year...

No wait....

MrsDilligaf · 01/03/2017 19:24

I got my first three presents yesterday. QVC had 3 L'Occitane baubles for £30 (or thereabouts) so I snapped them up for my Aunties.

I feel very organised (and slightly smug!)

HairsprayBabe · 02/03/2017 08:02

I bought a few things in January but I am determined to be more organized this year. I am not planning on buying a single gift in December. That will be a challenge!

Mrsmadevans · 02/03/2017 19:51

Notanotherpawpatrol · 03/03/2017 07:06

No. Easter is not allowed to happen this year. Nope. Easter is cancelled this year....Have I mentioned I become a mum of 4 over Easter Shock I'm just not ready for that kind of responsibility! Whoever decided I was adult enough to be a parent of one let alone 4 has made a mistake.
Easter is most definitely cancelled.
