Sorted! 😂

TheWoollybacksWife · 25/02/2017 15:49

I just nipped into town for some buttons for my latest knitting projects and bought the next three books in the series that DS is reading. I bought them at WHSmith so they definitely weren't a bargain - although they were 3for2 so I did save £8. He'll get one next month if he passes his karate grading and I'll save one for our holiday and one for Christmas. Smiths also had boxes of candy canes for 50p with a date of Feb 2018.

SideOrderofSprouts · 25/02/2017 15:58

Babychips(or should that be toddler chips now?!) is getting really into Thomas the tank engine. This opens many avenues!

DS had an absolute tonne of Thomas themed Duplo. It came with all the main characters and he loved it. It's now on its second incarnation with my train mad nephew. I highly recommend it if it is still made. Also character.com for Thomas themed PJs and bags at very reasonable prices.

lollyj84 · 25/02/2017 17:15

Happy birthday Martha for yesterday.
i hope you enjoyed the cake-sleep for Mummy and you might get moreGrin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/02/2017 19:56

xmasclock says 302 (and I'm still confused Xmas Blush )

Side my DS (now 17) loved Thomas , I had to learn the name/number and colours of all the trains.
I was in a queue once and a little boy was buying a book, he was asking his gran about the trains , she was Confused
So we (the boy and I) had a long chat about the trains - Bossy Gordon, Silly Thomas, Hard Working Little Percy, Naughty James, the silly carriages............ sweet.
The gran gave me a "how d'you know all this" whisper.
"I had one of these Thomas Fans myself" I said Xmas Grin

Welcome newbies by the way .
2 months down only 10 to go !! X

HandbagCrazy · 26/02/2017 19:19

Oh I've missed this thread. Real life has gotten in the way of me being able to keep up but I've been on a train for what feels like forever and have read all the way through.
So nice to see newbies on the thread

Been wandering the boards and definitely think this is the nicest part of MN.

So I missed my Rudolph day this month as I was at the rugby in Edinburgh. Was a bloody awful game for us (I'm Welsh) but the Scots were amazing and gave us commiseration drinks 🍻

Anyway.... Edinburgh has 2 marvellous Christmas shops. I only managed to visit one before DH started tutting, however, they wished me a Merry Christmas when I walked in and were playing Christmas music so I had to buy lots of stuff I don't need a bauble 🎄

Looking forward to following this thread again properly now things are slowing down

HungryHorace · 26/02/2017 19:55

Edinburgh has two Christmas shops?! I'm there in April, might have to investigate!

HandbagCrazy · 26/02/2017 19:59

It does - Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe and the Nutcracker Christmas Shop.
We were in Edinburgh last year but I discovered them on a Sunday and they weren't open so I learnt my lesson and got there yesterday morning.

It's made me feel festive enough to spend my train journey planning my Christmas crochet projects Smile

HandbagCrazy · 26/02/2017 19:59

Forgot to say, the Christmas shops are fairly close together and both on the high street so easy to find 👍🏻

flapjackfairy · 27/02/2017 05:53

Ooh short break to edinburgh in order me thinks !

BiddyPop · 27/02/2017 14:51

Hi all, just popping in to keep myself somewhat up to date despite real life interfering as usual.

Handbag - commiserations on losing the rugby - Scotland are quite the surprise this year (they beat us too - boo!!). But I must have a look for those shops, DH has to go to Edinburgh for work a few times soon and was talking about a weekend there!! I foresee a lost couple of hours while he's at meetings....

I can't believe I completely missed Rudy Day! Although I had done Christmas-ish stuff earlier in the week as I boxed up the things around the house that had been missed and brought them to the storage unit. I want to go through the things in my gift box, as I think I may have enough for most people already - we are cutting back hugely this year.

I must catch up on all news, but firstly I have to keep up with work stuff. So I'll do an Arnie - "I'll be back"!

FairyTinsel · 27/02/2017 18:08

Hi all, I'm new to Mumsnet, having joined to take part in this thread... I'm a tad OCD when it comes to all things festive and am glad to discover there are 'others out there'! I feel as though I know some of you already as I've been lurking for a few days and read countless other threads, you all sound so lovely. I have 3 children, 2 DDs and 1 DS, and 3 grandchildren (I do it for them!). Are they GCs? I've just bought a silver christmas tree this afternoon having missed the boat other years, and yes, it may be hideous when I put it up but in my minds eye it'll look wonderful - I had one in the 1980's, and thinking back I was happy to see it go but now I want it back. Hope I intercept the delivery, got caught out two weeks ago over 4 boxes of fairy lights - such is life, all the skulduggery gets the blood surging, anyway, nice to meet you all!

flapjackfairy · 27/02/2017 19:02

Hi fairy welcome aboard.
They are a nice lot on here and you can indulge your christmas fetish to your hearts content x
