I mentioned to DH that today was a Rudolph Day....was met with a blank look. I said there's only 10 more Rudolph days to go till the big one Xmas Grin

flapjackfairy · 25/01/2017 15:59

Ooh only 10 more that makes it sound so close.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/01/2017 18:36

Happy 1st Rudolph Day of 2017 Xmas Grin

I told DH on the way to work this morning, he was Xmas Hmm of course....typical. I told him as it was burns Night he should buy himself a nice bottle of whisky- which he did Smile

MrsDilligaf · 25/01/2017 19:51

Ah you see I forgot about Burns Night until I spoke to my DM....by which time we had already decided to celebrate Chinese New Year early!

73kittycat73 · 26/01/2017 01:07

Hope everyone had a great Rudolph Day. Xmas Smile Did anyone do anything? I must confess, I didn't.
Yes, only 10 more does sound really close! Xmas Smile

Rainatnight · 26/01/2017 09:15

Thank you for all the lovely good wishes Grin

Wow, MrsDiligaf, I didn't know there needed to be a thread baby! I am delighted to oblige. That's an honour I wasn't expecting.

Hello, flapjack! Congratulations, I hope you had a lovely first Christmas as a mum.

Notanotherpawpatrol · 26/01/2017 09:31

Can I join? I'm having baby number 4 in 12 weeks so need to get clever about affording Christmas presents. I have 3 neices and 3 nephew's to pay for as well as a sister and a brother who are both under 10. I'm normally pretty organised with christmas, but last year i'm not sure what happened. I was really rubbish and did so much last minute, I'm blaming the pregnancy!!

Anyway. I have done 1/2 of my 2 dd's stockings, and have a main present for dd1, bought my son's PJ's and dressing gown and a couple of stocking fillers for him too. I have a Christmas outfit for new baby and my little brother and sister are done too. I just have my sister and bil to get (usually just a token present like a box of broken buscuits)
Dh thinks it's all too soon, however I've only spent around £50 so he doesn't mind them being hidden around the house too much Grin
I'm starting to feel like I may be back in control and organised this year Grin

Notanotherpawpatrol · 26/01/2017 09:32

Oh and 2 of my neices are done too!

Stitchosaurus · 26/01/2017 13:41

Just running in to say I feel very festive as I've just booked Lapland UK for this year! And by festive, I mean excited and slightly horrified by how much I've just spent Xmas Grin

I forgot all about Rudolph days! Lovely idea, will have to mark it properly in Feb. Sounds like there are a few thread babies expected, congratulations to all!

73kittycat73 · 26/01/2017 14:34

Welcome Notanotherpawpatrol Sounds like you are very organized! Xmas Smile
Nice one Stitchosaurus, don't think about the cost, think about the fun you'll have! Xmas Grin

MrsDilligaf · 26/01/2017 14:40

Phew!! Woolly we're safe!! Two thread babies now so we're off the hook Grin

We love a baby on this thread. This is my little girl - Martha. She is 11 months old, so not a tiddly baby anymore Sad.

Countdown to Christmas 2017
Rainatnight · 26/01/2017 14:41

She is ADORABLE!

And lovely name - it's on our list.

MrsDilligaf · 26/01/2017 14:41

Oops meant to say hello to Notanotherpawpatrol - that is some very impressive preparation.

73kittycat73 · 26/01/2017 14:45

Oh, MrsDilligaf, she's so cute! Makes me feel all broody. Xmas Confused Xmas Grin

purplecabbage · 26/01/2017 16:13

Belated Rudolph day update: and yes it is v exciting that 10 to go!!

Had a family birthday celebration on the 25th and wasnt able to subvert to match the theme, but today am tweaking supper. Need to work on gravy in a calm, stress-free environment. And have some root veg roasting which I think could be a time-saver - know it's not earth shatteringly novel! Blanched then roasted parsnip, carrot, brussels and leeks with onions and herbs.

It will be lovely to enjoy a hearty roast meal, as the theme du jour here is salads, smoothies etc as part of post-Pud penitence!!

Have decluttered wardrobes and created lots more space for storage - am keeping a box specifically for Christmas bits picked up along the way... Previously was kept in the garage, and not accessible, so having it in a more convenient space means that Christmas can be kept more alive, and not hidden!

flapjackfairy · 26/01/2017 16:56

MrsD your little girl is gorgeous!
I thought i was way ahead but Notanother is putting me to shame. Oh and please keep us updated re number 4 . I love babies and baby news! X

Notanotherpawpatrol · 26/01/2017 17:11

I love Martha as a name, she is gorgeous and totally still a baby! I keep calling my 2.5 year old a baby and he says "no mum. I a big boy now" 😨
I didn't mean to put you to shame Blush to put it into context I currently have a 6, 4 and 2 year old, baby due Easter time and our house is on the market, hopefully moving around April/may. So really the months between march and July with a new house and new baby are a complete write off! You'll catch up and be more organised!
If it makes you feel any better dd2's birthday is in 2 weeks and I haven't even started thinking about that! Grin

Mrsmadevans · 26/01/2017 18:06

Beautiful little girl Mrs D and her name really suits her imho .....sometimes a name just fits somehow you know
Notanother welcome and stop making me jealous well done on the preparation for this christmas my dear that is just amazing especially with a new baby on the way!!
Rain, you and Not must be joined by THIRD person expecting a thread Baby solongas its not me nigh on impossible now
completely missed the Rudolph day bah humbug !
hope all well xxx

flapjackfairy · 26/01/2017 18:29

I know Notanother! I was just mega impressed with your organisational skills! Having just found this board this yr i am actually way ahead of myself already. I have picked up a few bits off the bargain thread so well chuffed!

MrsDilligaf · 26/01/2017 18:51

Aww thank you, you're all very kind. Martha is the apple of our eye - and I know what you mean she does suit her name. I desperately wanted to call her Romily but DH preferred Martha. She is rarely called Martha though, we generally call her Moo!

I picked up a load of tissue paper in Tesco earlier on. 25p a pack! I will use it throughout the year for wrapping up birthday pressies rather than keep it for Christmas.

nickdrakeslovechild · 26/01/2017 20:44

I completely forgot that I managed to finish off DD (6) her stocking bits at the weekend.
Claires (stick on earrings and a keyring)
Accessorise (beautiful hair clips and jewellery)
Boots (lipgloss and small smellies)

They were all really really cheap! 5 for £5 in clares and 70% off in acessorize and boots.

I need to get it all out next weekend when I have some time and fully note down what Ive got, last year she had far too many things in her stocking as they are the only things I dont normally add to my list and pinterest board as I go along.

ooohh thread babies. I am so past having anymore, but do like to see the pics of others Xmas Grin

Mummysh0rtlegs · 26/01/2017 21:30

332

couldn't see a count down number today? Is it 332? I just googled and it said 333? CONFUSED.

I am going to work on my crochet so I can crochet soft toys for the kids. I want to make unicorns.

nickdrakeslovechild · 27/01/2017 09:22

331 It doesnt take much to confuse me most days Mummy I am just a Christmas sheep and will follow the crowd! It is so cold outside today, even the dog wont go out. Might get my stash sorted today instead.

Stay warm and cosy everyone!

MrsDilligaf · 27/01/2017 10:41

It's definitely a day for staying cosy! I'm cracking on with my third woolly hug square. It's been years since I knitted but I've loved it. I am going to carry on and keep contributing to various projects.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Notanotherpawpatrol · 27/01/2017 13:06

Mummy, I remember one Christmas when we were small that my mum knitted us clowns. They didn't have alot of money and I think it was pretty much all that was in our stocking (it was huge!) We treasured them for years and the other day my brother was asking if I knew where they had gone :( unfortunately not. (There were 4, one for each of us)
Good luck with the unicorns, the kids will love them!!
