That's lovely Smile

I'm so excited too as we'll (hopefully!) be in our new house and have more space and a lovely Christmassy fireplace!

HairsprayBabe · 23/01/2017 11:16

Rain that is SO exciting! Congratulations! Flowers

clumsyduck · 23/01/2017 11:17

It's pretty much February so Only 9 ish months to go untill I can feel all Christmassy again Grin

clumsyduck · 23/01/2017 11:18

Oh and congrats rain what an amazing year your in for Flowers

Guitargirl · 23/01/2017 11:58

Rain - what exciting news - congratulations! You will have such a lovely time planning your first Christmas together (as well as welcoming your new baby of course)!

Mrsmadevans - I had a similar coccyx injury a few years ago. I slipped on the bottom of our stairs on Boxing Day - of all days - putting away Christmas presents Blush. I only fell down 2 steps but the pain was excruciating and I thought I was going to pass out. The following day I had to make a 4 hour train journey to visit my parents and I did the whole thing kneeling on a seat as I couldn't sit down. Everyone told me to go and see a doctor but I was so embarrassed at the thought of having my arse x-rayed (I had visions of having to sit on a photocopier-type machine), plus I figured they probably couldn't do much about it anyway so I hobbled on. The pain lasted well over a year. Even now - 3 years later - if I sit in a particular chair it hurts...Just as well I have so much natural padding!

Not much Christmassing going on around here at the moment. DS had his birthday party this weekend so am still very much in recovery mode from that, trying to find homes for another round of presents (both the DCs have January birthdays so it gets a bit full-on, especially when you add in party presents) and trying to fit in some work today in between.

AmyAmoeba · 23/01/2017 12:36

Rain what wonderful news! Christmas is only a million times more fun as a mum.
MaryPoppins a good fireplace is a crucial part of a good Christmas. Sounds like a sensible move Wink
MrsD and Woolly what exciting things are you knitting/crocheting? DD has decided to learn to knit so we are working on a hairband at the moment Smile. I'm thinking of starting on a crochet snowflake throw for the sofa. I've only ever crocheted with wool before so it will take a bit of practice to get used to a lighter weight. Also, I haven't quite figured out a design because I want it to look Christmassy and snowflakey rather than like the Victorian chair doilies in my great aunt's house. Grin

HandbagCrazy · 23/01/2017 12:44

Rain congratulations! 🎉💐

I too am having a glamorous day. I'm in joggers and T-shirt, hair tied back, blitzing the house after having a lazy day yesterday. Have done kitchen, dining room, living room and floors along with a load of washing. Am now going to hoover the stairs, clean the bathroom and put clothes away.
Only nod to Christmas today was me putting my phone music on shuffle and getting Wonderful Christmas Time in between Taylor Swift and Foo Fighters Blush I thought I'd removed the Christmas playlist but obviously not!

TheWoollybacksWife · 23/01/2017 13:06

Rain fantastic news Flowers

Amy I'm crocheting for Woolly Hugs. I'm working on a blanket for the Chernobyl project currently and also need to finish off a square for the blanket for Tunnocks. Then I'll be working on a Candy hug after that (named for MN's own lovely Zombie)

Mummysh0rtlegs · 23/01/2017 13:54

Massive congratulations Rain! What a lovely christmas that will be.

AmyAmoeba · 23/01/2017 15:39

Thanks for the link to woolly hugs. What a fabulous concept!

TheWoollybacksWife · 23/01/2017 15:45

Come and join us Amy. You know you want to... Grin

Seriously, you can be working with donated supplies in the matter of days and all levels of ability are welcome. There are pattern and tutorials linked in most threads.

HungryHorace · 23/01/2017 18:50

Ah, Rain, that's bloody brilliant news. How lovely! ❤️

I've not done anything Christmassy at all either today. Unless you count a sneaky afternoon pint with DH after we left the kids with his parents for a bit! 😁

73kittycat73 · 23/01/2017 18:51

Oh, what do you knit if you don't mind me asking MrsDilligaf? I've just finished knitting an outfit for my nieces boy Baby Born doll. Very proud of it I am too. Did a stitch pattern I've not tried before.
I've tried Crochet too, TheWoollybacksWife but don't know if I was doing it right. (Was using YouTube for tutorials.) I could never get the first chain right, I always ended up with more chain than I should and would then get confused! Xmas Blush Lol. My mum prefers crochet to knitting as she says you can see the results faster. I suppose it depends really on how fast a knitter you are.

73kittycat73 · 23/01/2017 18:59

Doh, I was a page behind. Enjoy your knitting Wollyback. Xmas Smile

Congratulations Rainatnight, I'm sure your Christmas will be super exciting and fun. Xmas Smile

Nothing much happening here Christmas wise either sadly. I do have 2 Christmas boxes I got from Ebay on the way though: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Christmas-Lovely-Gift-Box-Santa-Snowman-Rreindeer-Xmas-Party-Box-For-Candy-Cakes/311746005960?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D40809%26meid%3Dc2ec3cd3edb342d6ba55c03c8af27842%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D222257914245
(Sorry for the long link!)

MrsDilligaf · 23/01/2017 19:19

Well there we have it ladies!! Our thread baby!! Rain congratulations Flowers Baby Rain will be a very lucky little girl. Looking forward to hearing about her (as much as you are happy to share)

breathes a HUGE sigh of relief as I thought I'd have to have this year's baby!!

I'm knitting a square for the Woolly Hug for Tunnocks at the moment. I've done one dreadful square already but I am really enjoying it so I am hoping that I can carry on knitting, albeit very slowly and not at all brilliantly.

flapjackfairy · 23/01/2017 19:27

Hi Rain i normally see you on the adoption board .
I adopted my 2yr old foster child last nov so it was lovely to officially be a mum again for christmas!
What a wonderful year it is going to be for you.

Mrsmadevans · 23/01/2017 22:52

You know that bed I changed yesterday....

Exactly the same thing happened today on my side. Looks like another day of washing for me!

TheWoollybacksWife · 24/01/2017 11:27

That'll explain why I'm never brought a cup of tea in bed MrsD It's in case one of the children spill it on the bed covers - even though my PFB is a proper grownup, I'm up hours before the teenager (DD2) and the "baby" has reached double figures. Grin

MrsDilligaf · 24/01/2017 12:18

I think our days of a leisurely cuppa in bed will be limited to those when the monster is with her grandparents Brew

Happy Rudolph Day countdowners Xmas Smile

BiddyPop · 25/01/2017 14:52

Hi Everyone.

Happy Rudolph Day!! Xmas Grin

All a bit mad busy here (so what else is new?!) with a Scout Leaders meeting last night, and a whole load of thinking to be done about that one, school committee should be quiet now for a while but that needed stuff earlier this week, DH is away again (home tonight) and DD seems even more tired than last week. So I am going home early tonight and making sure that she gets a quiet evening and early night!
