I had a wander round our teeny tiny Boots this morning. There were approximately 12 things left on the sale shelf but I managed to pick up two sets of lovely nail varnishes to put away for the DDs.

flapjackfairy · 21/01/2017 17:39

Never mind lolly hopefully no one noticed or at least if they did were too polite to snigger.
I rarely make it through a day without at least one embarrassing mum moment!
Yesterday i managed to put my foot in it when dd was listening to some music in the kitchen .
In typical old fogey fashion i said "what the bloody hell is this racket" to be told it was daughters new boyfriends band! Oops!
Anyway what number are we on in countdown ? I have lost track!

ConstantlyCooking · 21/01/2017 18:12

I got a couple of things for DD's end of exam treat box (and an eyeshadow palette for me Wink) in Boots yesterday, but have generally been disappointed in the sales this year.

ConstantlyCooking · 21/01/2017 18:13

Except for my handbag, of course. It is a thing of beauty.

purplecabbage · 21/01/2017 18:36

Kitty best of luck with Paul McKenna! The strategy of weighing once a month seems very sane and reasonable. Looking forward to planned treats is lovely; I think abstinence increases the specialness!

I'm well and truly resettled in the groove of health promoting behaviours, with the potential disrupt of a birthday lunch next week. I know my parameters and the still fresh memory of the sore tums of Christmas just past will hopefully bolster self-control!

Am loving the chillsome temps; this morning went out walking over fields iced with a very hard frost - probably the closest to snow we will get in this region. By late afternoon the sky seemed milky with the possibility of snowfall. That wonderful feeling of winter wonderland outside and the required cosiness inside is for me the kindest way to transition from Christmas! I did see a cluster of snow drops getting ready to blossom in a quiet lane, overall the effect is quite magical!

Something to consider that one month ago we were at the epicentre of full Christmassy flow! And already one month has clocked by!

DH is pottering about somewhere which means I can enjoy some-hopefully all- of a Hallmark holiday movie. Generally they are drenched in Christmas atmosphere!

flapjackfairy · 22/01/2017 09:32

It is flurrying here so that is making me feel the christmas spirit again.
Any excuse

HandbagCrazy · 22/01/2017 11:12

Mrsmadevans - no babies yet - we are ttc and starting treatment later this year.
I am near you - about 20 mins or so away. I love Abergavenny, such lovely scenery Xmas Smile I regularly lose DH for a few hours while he goes hiking up the sugarloaf!
*
Lolly* I hope your fall didn't hurt? I tripped down a 2 steps in work a week or so ago. Sounds like nothing but our office has the stairs in the centre of the building, going up the middle which means that about half the building could see me Blush

Boots sale was great here. I bought soap and glory sets for both SILs and Dsis, some hello kitty sets for nieces and friends little one and avengers stuff for dnephew. Also got a huge Sanctuary set for DM as she loves them and one for me because I love the smell
DH still thinks I'm nuts for buying stuff this early but he commented how much less we spent last Christmas and can't see to realise that this is why!

lollyj84 · 22/01/2017 11:43

Baubles- bit of a sore wrist but nothing serious..

AmyAmoeba · 22/01/2017 11:48

lolly glad you're ok, did something similar a few years back and cracked my tail bone without realising and it still gives me a bit of trouble now. Mind you the injury to my pride was far worse Blush
Very Envy of those of you with snow. purple you have a way with words! Where I am is dull and overcast and not the slightest bit Christmassy at all.

HandbagCrazy · 22/01/2017 12:27

Amy same here. Very crisp and cold but grey, overcast and quite dark. No snow Xmas Sad

Apologies for above - posted under the festive name so have asked MN to change it which they have 😊

Dragged myself out of the house for some lunch now. Will hopefully feel better less hungover after food!

SideOrderofSprouts · 22/01/2017 13:11

I'm just keeping my festive name for the year. It suits me. I'm not to everyone's taste

I had the last of the sprouts that I prepared and froze for Christmas on Friday with shepherds pie and some cabbage for good measure. I was Donald-ing all evening Blush

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/01/2017 13:17

ouch -all these injuries Xmas Sad

lolly you might have a stonking great bruise to show for your misadventure !

I have a couple of lemon loaf cakes cooling and waiting for drizzly icing . (Just because I had eggs, Stork and lemons to use up. Handily, LDC lends itself Xmas Grin )

HandbagCrazy · 22/01/2017 13:56

70 can I come to yours? The waitress here seems to have got lost bringing my pudding and lemon drizzle cake is one of my favourites!

I had to go back to this name, I confuse people otherwise by posting part in this name and part in 2 others I have (for different boards that I like to keep away from my Christmas-mania)

Also, I've just realised that I can suddenly use my emojis on the MN app, so

Hope you are ok Baubles I fell on my coccyx last year (down the stairs on my coccyx three steps ouch)and it was really painful I even went to the ac/em dept for an xray I was convinced I had broken it! I hadnt but I am convinced they didnt read the xray right lol
No bargains today my dears but my stuff from Amazon came and is lovely and gone into my stash hope all ok take care everyone xx

MrsDilligaf · 22/01/2017 21:41

Ha ha I did wonder what Donald-ing was!

DH is off doing hush hush work related stuff, so I'm snuggled up under the duvet with a good book. My best pal has just gone home - I love the fact that she just comes round in her pyjamas....I text her to say don't dress up Martha and I are in pyjamas as she rocked up in hers!

God love her, she washed up the pots while I put the baby to bed, came down stairs and she's made me a cuppa. I need nothing more in my life than a friend like her 💜 (DH and M aside obviously!)

SideOrderofSprouts · 22/01/2017 21:58

You all know it's me anyway 😂

Off to change the bed linen - my least favourite job. Nothing remotely Christmassy happening Sad

MrsDilligaf · 23/01/2017 10:49

Changing the bed here as well thanks to Martha!! She tipped a cold cup of coffee all over herself, DH and the bed....

I've got a list of housework jobs to do as long as my arm but I don't want to do any of them...I want to knit!

TheWoollybacksWife · 23/01/2017 10:56

The glamorous lives we lead, eh MrsD? At least the coffee was cold. It can't have been pleasant for poor Martha or you

I've finished the beds and I've even cleaned DS's football boots. I'll have to check next week that there's still a pitch left - DS must have had half of it stuck in his studs. Just settling down to catch up on Friday's NCIS with my crocheting.

Rainatnight · 23/01/2017 11:06

I know this sounds mad but I'm already quite excited about next Christmas. We're just about to adopt a baby girl, so next Christmas will be my first one AS A MUM!

So excited.

Must focus on enjoying her when she gets home, though, without wishing the year away!
