Oh shit forgot to defrost the turkey!

I have a rolled and boned five kilo turkey and I forgot to take it out of the freezer till now! We are not eating till 4 so that is one thing but was going to put it in the oven at 11. Will it defrost in time? I have put it in the sink in cold water but I have to change the water every 30 mins so will have to put it in the fridge when I go to bed. Please tell me it will be ok?

Ok no fridge! Good idea Crispbutty when it is thawed enough I can cut it in half.

I never defrost anything in the fridge, always been fine. Do you have a defrost setting on your oven? Basically blows cool air around the oven but works very well. Might just help you finish it off tomorrow morning?

How did you get on?

Left it out overnight and seemed to be defrosted in the morning. Cooked it a bit longer than recommended for fear it was still frozen inside. All was fine and we are still alive ( if a little dry - but hidden with a sea of gravy. So all fine an a lesson learnt. Thanks for all the advice.
