Cozy coupes aren't too bad, hardest bit is putting the covers on the nuts (or do I mean bolts?)

lostlalaloopsy · 24/12/2016 07:56

Happy Christmas Eve! This is the best day of the year, so exciting! My dcs are up and already high as kites.

Today we will be making cookies for Santa and tidying the house again. Later in the afternoon the extended family are coming round for a buffet and plenty prosseco!! Also will try to fit in a walk, but the weather is pretty wild here.

Gizmo we got ds a Tykes Coupe a few years ago, it was a bit tricky to put together - I remember DH swearing quite a bit!! Use a drill if you've got one.

worldsworstchildren · 24/12/2016 07:58

Just off to pick last minute present up from next and also to m&s for forgotten leeks.
Church late afternoon followed by meal at pub and then home for final wrapping. Most done so hopefully won't take longer than an hour and then early night.

Chillywhippet · 24/12/2016 08:10

Wrap last 2 presents (so not bad but did do a few hours last night)
Try to find the lost gift Xmas Grin

Put gammon in slow cooker

Bit of cleaning but have given up with laundry

Pick up gin and lemons that mum bought for me yesterday as someone has been drinking mine and I have promised myself a Christmas Eve cocktail (gin, lemon, elderflower, prosecco)

Get some fire wood

Family trip walk to see rogue 1 Star Wars

Meet friends and their kids in local pub at 7 pm

NickMarlow · 24/12/2016 08:14

Dd and I have just had chocolate croissants for breakfast watching the Snowman :) At some point, dh will get up and have her and I'll have a nice long bath with no interruptions.

Then finish packing, children's service at church, and off to pils for a big family Christmas.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 24/12/2016 08:15

Agree, Christmas eve is as good if not better than the day itself! We're having a breakfast of coco pops and smoothies now then I'm gonna shower myself and the kids. Dh has gone to get his haircut (I know, on Christmas eve Xmas Hmm ) . The elf brought the kids new PJs which will be put straight on after their showers, we have a pyjama party at the local softplay from 2 until 4. Ill just give them a snack around 12 as theyre having food there. The kids know they're going somewhere in their PJs but have no idea where. Then its home where me and dh will join the kids and put our PJs on and then around 5/5.30 we will order takeaway and watch lampoons Christmas vacation (watch it every Christmas eve) .

We aren't going anywhere tomorrow, have some people popping in to do present exchanges but not leaving the house ourselves and we have something simple for our main meal Christmas day. Boxing day is when we will have the full roast, gammon and chicken with all the trimmings this year. We do this as boxing day is when DSS comes and I'm not cooking it all twice in a row haha

Interestingangelfish · 24/12/2016 08:15

Not sure what we're doing this morning, but MIL and I are taking dd to the cinema to see Moana (sp?) this afternoon. MIL and FIL then coming over to ours for fish and chips (half price today - hurray) and then staying to babysit dd while dh and I go out to the pub - result!
Have lovely days, everybody.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 24/12/2016 08:16

Ooh, forgot. As dh is getting the kids in the car ready for softplay I'll be leaving a goodbye note from the elf and a little tray of goodies. We will then use the tray tonight for the carrot, mince pie and choc milk

GizmoFrisby · 24/12/2016 08:20

*Interesting

We saw Moana on Monday at cinema it's a fab film. My favourite Disney one yet.

Good luck with the crazy coupe OP!

I've got to pop to M&S for one thing. Then need to strip all the beds and wash sheets so we all have clean sheets for tonight. Need to hoover and clean the bathrooms. Want to wash the kitchen floor. Hopefully will get out for a walk to the park for DS1 to burn off some energy, he's bouncing off the walls already. Tonight I'm going to a carol concert and midnight mass at our church (it's at 9pm so not too late!) and taking DS2 with me. For the first year ever, I've finished the wrapping up! I'm usually doing it way beyond midnight on Christmas Eve!

Mol1628 · 24/12/2016 08:30

I hated putting our cosy coupe together. Not difficult just annoying. Make sure you get the wheels on the right way first time though or they're a real pain to change over.

My parents are coming over for dinner today and we are having a chilled out day trying to keep the children calm.

RatOnnaStick · 24/12/2016 08:36

I'm currently enjoying my lie in. Dh is taking the boys swimming in an hour. Bit of peace and quiet, lovely.

bearsnumberonefan · 24/12/2016 08:38

Tidy, clean, walk the dog, go to the park, keep the kids out of the house for as long as possible so they don't make any mess that I've just tidied...

Kirriemuir · 24/12/2016 08:43

I'm just back from the butchers so food all sorted

Going to have a bath and tidy up a little then we are off to the cinema and will get an early tea afterwards. DS is desperate to see something about a bear on C4 tonight so need to be back in time for that.

sansoucitherednosedcariboo · 24/12/2016 08:45

I'm going to make an apple mincemeat crumble to take to my sister, who's hosting the family Xmas dinner. Oh crap! Just realised we'll be 13 at the table!!

lollyj84 · 24/12/2016 11:12

*Gizmo, start the cozy coupe early. When Ds1 was 2 my Dm bought him one for his birthday. It took my Dh who is v good at diy, crafts anything practical 2 hours to bulid. It was a wonder it never ended up in the bin.

harderandharder2breathe · 24/12/2016 11:30

Happy Christmas Eve!

I'm baking bread and mince pies, cleaning, then going for an early dinner with friends family later. Then home for chocolates and a Baileys in front of the to

harderandharder2breathe · 24/12/2016 11:30

Teaistheanswer · 24/12/2016 11:44

Have been up since stupid-o'clock and have cleaned like a maniac and finished last ironing after both DC brought home mountains from uni?! Currently having a quick cuppa and watching Willy Wonka.....I don't remember it being this trippy when I was younger! Have a great Christmas everyone and good luck to all of you who have assembling to do, I remember those days well!

delilahbucket · 24/12/2016 11:49

Been to pick up the turkey from the butchers. Made some peppermint polar bears with DS. Going to make gingerbread snowmen soon after watching a film. Then we're going for an early tea/late lunch and off to the panto Xmas Grin

Happy Christmas Eve...
MsHybridFanGirl · 24/12/2016 11:54

Spent most of night monitoring DD as her chronic condition is flaring . . Fingers crossed better for Xmas!
In the bath right now whilst DD is doing drawing / arts and crafts. Watched Father Christmas this morning on TV.
Lunch soon (soup and bread). Then pick up Mum and panto at 3pm!
Back to mum's for Chinese after panto, then home for maybe Xmas film, put out snacks for santa and read The Night before Xmas.
Perhaps Midnight Mass if DD better later.

Merry Xmas everyone

GizmoFrisby · 24/12/2016 11:55

CuntyMcCuntyface · 24/12/2016 12:05

Have watched Four Christmases, now watching Miracle on 34th Street and will follow up with What a Wonderful Life later. Mince Pies all made and just going to do a Chocolate Cake later. DS (17) hasn't slept all night so is staying awake on Play Station, DD (15) had a friend for a sleepover last night, they (and I) didn't get to sleep until gone 3am so they're still in bed. Taking the dogs for a walk in a bit and deliver the last couple of cards. Roast Pork sandwiches for tea, then a large glass of Baileys while watching Love Actually.
Happy Christmas Eve everyone!

Sawbridgeworthmum · 24/12/2016 14:52

Happy Christmas Eve!

Can someone tell me where I've left my Christmas spirit. Currently not in the mood for any of it.
