I need to

Panic buy another present for my mum
Panic over what I'm going to wear on Christmas Day
Finish icing the cake (it's marzipanned already)
Clean the bathroom
Clean the kitchen
Make up the spare room bed
Finalise the Tesco order coming tomorrow
Get turkey and beef from Costco (dh job)
Make lasagna for Christmas Eve
Make pear and cranberry pies

It doesn't sound too awful but with a 5 and 2 year old constantly underfoot I'm getting nowhere fast!

A million other things that I've forgotten.....

I'm intrigued by the number of people changing beds - surely you don't do that specifically for Christmas?

I'm going to change the sheets tomorrow specifically for Christmas. I just really like to have clean sheets at Christmas, don't know why, just do.

Muskey · 22/12/2016 20:13

I actually don't have to do much. I have to pick up the meat but because I have an Irish mammy who is obsessed about how long the ham has to be soaked for and because I am in work on Friday I will be at the butchers on Christmas Eve at wait for it 05.00 am. I also have a few herbs and spices to get for mulled cider and some salad stuff and that is it.

minesapintofmulledwine · 22/12/2016 21:13

I'm happy enough with my to do list, but I am too tired!

Buy and wrap two more presents. Pop in and see about 3 different relatives with my dc. Clean the house. Change bed linen.

Been food shopping today but might get a couple of bits as and when as I'm sitting here wishing I'd bought more cheese

Equimum · 22/12/2016 22:34

Put gingerbread train together
Bake sausage rolls
Final clean through house
Dig presents out from their hiding places
Collect food from m&S on Christmas Eve
Put Christmas Eve box together

Greenfingeredfun · 22/12/2016 23:37

I'm another one who has to have clean bed linen on all our beds Christmas eve. I wash them Saturday, so pleased my Christmas eve wash coincides with the usual wash day!
I need to wrap about 8 presents which I'll do Christmas Eve. That's it.. unless I've forgotten anything Xmas Hmm

ChristmasSeacow · 22/12/2016 23:40

Presents all bought and wrapped. Ocado coming tomorrow. But I still have loads to do:

  • shop for the bits I forgot from Ocado or prefer to buy in person (e.g. fruit)
  • clean bathrooms
  • dust sitting room
  • Hoover and mop whole house
  • 3 loads of washing (like others I like to have a nearly empty basket and no drying hanging around)
  • iron nice tablecloth, it's cotton so looks terrible if I don't it has been in the ironing basket since new year
  • hang a giant mirror that is currently taking up the whole spare room bed.
  • make fish pie for Xmas eve
  • make fudge
  • make and decorate Yule log a la Stickman
  • make trifle
  • make sticky toffee pudding
  • make cauli cheese for Xmas dinner
  • decorate gingerbread house with DS

And finally, knit David Bowie for the top of our Christmas tree. I promised DH, though I don't think it will be finished by Sunday!

Am pregnant and feeling a bit rubbish so not really excited about the hosting and cooking this year.

And then it all starts for new year - couple of house guests and a NYE party. I can't think about that just yet...

HerChristmasFattyness · 22/12/2016 23:53

Well. My mums coming tomorrow to clean up for me. (She's awesome. I've been told off GP to rest, torn muscle) so no housework to do.
I do have 1 present to wrap. (Step grandmas)
Then Christmas eve my dad is coming round to move the presents from their hiding places and put them under the tree.
I will have to set up a wooden kitchen and a kids table and chairs.
Christmas day I go to mums for dinner Grin easy.
I do have to finish my assignment for the 27th though...

MsJamieFraser · 23/12/2016 07:25

I need to buy dd the one thing she has asked for from Santa (cuddly robin), which we only found out about when she finished school and bought the Santa letter she'd written at school home. Going to try to get one from a garden centre today - I imagine there'll be plenty around.
Also need to buy a few more food bits for Christmas dinner - spinach, parsnips, and cream and butter for the cheese cake I'm going to make with dd for dessert. Also need to make said cheesecake. The rest of the cooking will be done by dh, with some light hindrance from his mother. Hurray!

tooglamtogiveadamn · 23/12/2016 11:27

I need to:
'finish' cleaning
Remember to take relevant bits out the freezer tomorrow
Make a Clementine cake
Empty laundry basket
Put screencast in the car
Meeting friends tomorrow who have just moved house so need to get small housewarming gift which will mean braving the shops again.

Excited though! Am hosting Xmas day. Where's the tablecloth?????? Aaahhhhhhh

FeedMyFaceWithJaffaCakes · 23/12/2016 11:59

Christmas food shop
Tidy and clean house
Clean it tortoise
Work 13.75 hours Christmas Eve & Boxing Day

Newtssuitcase · 23/12/2016 12:04

Tidy the guest bedroom
Fill the advent calendar window 24 for tomorrow
Hang snowflakes above dining room table
Set table
Bake ham
prepare stuffing
make melted snowman cookies.
assemble DC's main present

Other than that I'm feeling rather organised now. Turkey has just been delivered and caused great excitement amongst the DC.

JustSpeakSense · 23/12/2016 12:06

Working all day today
Collect food shop from Sainsbury's
Shop for all food & drink tonight
Clean entire house
Prepare food
Entertaining 24th, 25th & 26th....
And breath 😅

Natsku · 23/12/2016 12:19

Have got lots done, just need to make the potato and swede casseroles and christmas bread today, have picked up the last things from the shops. Temperatures are perfect today as can keep food and drinks that don't fit in the fridge, in the porch instead as its fridge temperature there now.

Oh and need to clean the litter tray and give the cat a bath.

Laniakea · 23/12/2016 12:19

change beds & do laundry (3 loads)
general tidy & hoover
deep clean kitchen
put roofbox on car
clean out rabbit
relocate kitten to garden room (only for one night) - requires dd1 to tidy up
pack for one night away (there are 6 of us - including stockings, stocking presents & gifts for relatives & hostess gift)
emergency shop for my mum - cream, butter, panettone, cheddar - & deliver it to her
food still to do - yule log & trifle. Have done everything else :)
send dd1 out to deliver cards to neighbours & palm off my excess mince pies & bar nuts on someone.

But dh has just called to say the office has been closed & he's on his way home! Merry Christmas Grin

I've spent the last two days cooking - might get takeaway this evening!

LBOCS2 · 23/12/2016 13:08

Hum.

Finish wrapping - done most of it (feeling unbelievably smug about it too!) but have ILs gifts to do still.
Iron tablecloth.
Laundry done and away to get it out of the way - this is a HUGE job as we really need to clear the drawers and do a big attic switch around...
Tidy the kitchen dumping ground.
Get some holly and ivy from the garden to make table centrepieces (see if I can find the gold spray paint too).
Do my nails :)

LBOCS2 · 23/12/2016 13:09

Oh yes, cooking. A ham, braised red cabbage, carrot and swede mash, possibly a cauliflower cheese.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 23/12/2016 13:14

Just the wrapping. [Smug]

ipswichwitch · 23/12/2016 15:34

Interestingangelfish I got a large cuddly robin from Sainsbury's, just a bit bigger than a basketball and he's lovely!

I have to:
Wrap the last couple of presents
Set up DS1's kindle so it's ready to use as soon as he opens it
Build a playmobil set then wrap (do not want to be spending half my Christmas Day doing it!)
Change bedding
Get as much washing done as possible
Make cinnamon buns and cakes/cookies

OhStuffingBalls · 23/12/2016 16:47

Tonight:
Put washing away
Mop the floors downstairs tonight when everyone is upstairs
DH has promised to clean the bathroom later Grin

Thats it, really. Baking tomorrow mooning...and might pop out tomorrow afternoon and panic buy a few last bits of shite I don't need Grin

FantasticFestiveBeasts · 23/12/2016 16:50

I need to buy three presents - I thought I was done but am not sure I am.

A bit of food shopping too - we are not at home for Xmas lunch but I still need a few things.
