I've finished work until after Christmas, DS has arrived already but Christmas will truly begin when DD, SiL and DGS arrive on Friday. All my chicks will be back in the nest Xmas Smile DH and I just can't wait to pull up the drawbridge and step off the world for a couple of days.

Merry Christmas everyone Xmas Grin

4 o'clock on Christmas Eve, when we go to church for the carol service. The church will be all trimmed up with greenery and lit by candles. The smell has always signalled the start of Christmas for me.

GizmoFrisby · 22/12/2016 10:03

Christmas Eve is always the start for me about tea time. Xmas Grin

When my fever comes down I will crawl out of bed, have a shower and try to do as much Christmas preparation as I can in the time left. Might postpone Christmas for a week.

elQuintoConyo · 22/12/2016 10:57

Flowers Porridge

Mine starts this afternoon at 3 when I collect DS. I just need to have nothing rushed to do - no getting DS dressed and breakfasted and out of the house, no urgent buses to catch etc. Just chill out and walk the dog/watch Xmas films.

I also need to stop sewing Grin I have a small but complicated gift for DH to start! We don't buy gifts for each other, unless simeyhing looks super useful (his hiking boots broke last week; I'd find a handbag-sized mobile battery-backup thingy v useful, etc).

Then i'm going to tidy up. DH is food shopping tomorrow. I might bake in the morning, we are visiting Santa with DS' cousin about 6pm.

Pretty relaxed.

fueledbybacon · 22/12/2016 10:59

This evening at 10pm when I pick DH up from the airport.

Last bit of shopping tomorrow and get the last bits of food etc. Then pick Mother up from the train station.

Not doing Xmas this year.

Vistaverde · 22/12/2016 12:48

Merry Christmas all !!!!

Yesterday after I had finished work and DS had finished school. DS will be with his Dad for Christmas itself this year but am determined to chill out and relax and get myself ready for celebrating Christmas with my family on the 30th.

I usually feels it starts for us Xmas Eve when we got the nativity service. Mum is coming here for Xmas lunch, so hopefully can get in the mood a bit earlier.

RumAppleGinger · 22/12/2016 13:40

Tomorrow.

I finish work at 1pm, then collecting BIL to bring him to ours for the festivities.

DS1'S school finally breaks up tomorrow at lunch time.

I think everyone who is coming to stay or lives here should be here by 3pm so christmas can get started then.

lapsedorienteerer · 22/12/2016 21:56

Started today with our annual trip to the theatre (matinee).

Ladybirdtinselturd · 22/12/2016 22:15

Tonight! Both DH and I have finished work, food shop has been done, wrapping done, and house tidyish.

Just had a takeaway pizza, watched a christmas film and glugged down half a bottle of mulled wine!

Abecedario · 23/12/2016 12:27

Yesterday at 4.30 when I finished work, DP had already finished. I called him from the car park and screeched "it's chriiiiiiiiiistmas" down the phone which I'm sure he appreciated. We went to the local for a carvery and mulled wine in front of the open fire, very Christmassy, then came home and I fell asleep on the sofa in front of Lord of the rings.

Made Christmas rocky road for gifts this morning, cleaned bathroom and changed beds, about to start on some gingerbread, need to hoover through, and we pick the food shop up tomorrow morning, but I still feel Christmassy even with jobs still to do. Just so happy to be off work, it's been a pisser of a term.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 23/12/2016 13:26

Ours has started now as DH has just finished work. I'm just washing all the bedding and have a few little bits to get at the shop like batteries and milk. Tonight we will watch a Christmas film. Tomorrow is Ds1s birthday so a day of celebrations in store. I love Christmas

Justaboy · 23/12/2016 13:45

When the boy solo starts singing,
"Once in Royal Davids city" from Kings College just after 3 PM on Christmas eve:)

TrickyD · 23/12/2016 14:15

Tomorrow when DS1 and his DGF arrive. She had her 12 week scan yesterday, it is their first chid, we are thrilled!

uncoolnn · 23/12/2016 15:57

About 4:30 tomorrow when I've finally finished work for Christmas! (For one day only Xmas Angry)

Iwantacampervan · 23/12/2016 16:17

When we're safely back from Heathrow tomorrow morning having collected eldest daughter from travels - I can then relax!
I'll listen to the carols in the afternoon which will be my 'official' start.

Ruhrpott · 23/12/2016 16:28

27th here too when we leave MILs house

MsGameandWatch · 23/12/2016 16:28

Today, right now actually, chocolates and satsumas are out, Christmas Yankee candle - Apple Wreath - is burning. I love Christmas 😊

MsGameandWatch · 23/12/2016 16:35

Oh and Sky Christmas Fireplace screen on the TV 😊

When will Christmas truly begin for you?
officerhinrika · 23/12/2016 17:02

Like justaboy Christmas Eve 3 o'clock when the boy treble starts on Once in Royal Davids City. Carols from Kings on the radio is always my signal that it's all started. ( and for a bit of a cry). Everything needs to be finished by then or it doesn't get done!

Musicinthe00ssucks · 23/12/2016 17:02

Mine started at 1pm when DH got home from work. He took the DCs to his parents house while I finished wrapping the presents and watched the Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special. We'll have a relaxed Christmas Eve with the DDs watching films and on Christmas Day we host my parents and DH's parents for the day.

HermioneWoozle · 23/12/2016 17:06

Christmas officially starts when the choir boy sings as any fule kno, as officer said.

SirChenjin · 23/12/2016 17:07

Tomorrow when DH arrives with DS1and MIL after picking them both up

heron98 · 23/12/2016 17:07

I finished work on Tuesday but don't feel very Christmassy as I've had no one to hang around with so have just been out hiking or reading my book or going to spin class - alone. It's been fun but not very festive.

DP finishes today so I am looking forward to seeing him this evening and maybe watching a film.
