Really niiiiiice non-alcoholic drinks

We've been ill in run up to Christmas and I can't face getting tipsy this year. Don't get me wrong - we love our carefully chosen booze & we will have baileys & snowballs & plenty of wine for the guests. But I don't want to get dehydrated & headachey.

What is truly special that can be quaffed that isn't booze & isn't just lemondade, coke etc?

Sanbitter by San Pellegrino and tonic water. For those that want something with a bitter flavor, it's great and tastes like a grown up drink. I'm planning on putting the Sanbitter in some alcohol free sparkling wine to make virgin Aperol Spritz for Christmas Day.

Marks have got a lovely clementine juice with something like cinnamon
In it so it's lovely and festive. Had some the other day but didn't look properly at the carton to see the whole name. >helpful

Warm apple juice with mulled wine spices. Yum! !

nurseinwonderland · 21/12/2016 13:06

This is lovely. I've got some for Christmas day.

I have done extensive testing of the alcohol free beer market - Erdinger is really nice, can get in tesco. And Nanny State beer also good.

Gonna try that alcohol free wine.

San Pellegrino are lovely but all soft drinks are rammed full of either sugar or sweetener. Fever Tree naturally light ginger beer is a good option.

Jennie1978 · 21/12/2016 13:46

I agree, Elderflower cordial with fizzy water is lovely.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 21/12/2016 13:49

Kopparberg alcohol free pear cider is lovely. I'm not keen on the mixed berry one, too sweet.
The Belvoir mulled fruit punch is delicious, or make your own non alcoholic fruit punch by heating equal quantities of apple juice and red grape juice with mulled wine spices (or your own concoction of cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, cloves, whatever...) and slices of orange.
Other Belvoir drinks also great - elderflower, raspberry lemonade
Another poster also mentioned the San Pellegrino canned drinks, they are lovely, especially the blood orange one.

NameChange30 · 21/12/2016 13:51

I think the alcohol free pear cider tastes disgusting - like medicine and/or chemicals!

papooshka · 21/12/2016 13:52

Cranberry Juice with fizzy water, roughly half and half. Really refreshing and doesn't taste too sweet.

Timeforausernamechange · 21/12/2016 13:57

Make your own Shampagne with equal parts lime cordial and elderflower cordial and a few drops of orange flower water topped up with sparkling water. Not too sweet and sugary. We served it our wedding and it went down well.

BiscuitCapitalOfTheWorld · 21/12/2016 14:00

Belvoir Rose and Elderflower Presse is lovely ( they do a light version and cordial as well).

Belvoir are also doing a couple of wine style things- a Shiraz one and a rose one. Both are pretty nice.

Tesco has a promotion on all their drinks til the new year, you can stick up quite cheaply.

Leatherboundanddown · 21/12/2016 14:11

M&S mojito juice from the fridge mmmm

Luckystar1 · 21/12/2016 14:15

Ok, I can help, as I very rarely drink.

Belvoir and Bottle Green are lovely (the bottle green elderflower and pomegranate is divine) - always make cordial with sparkling water, it tastes so much better!

Heartsease farm is my new favourite- I get from Ocado, they do a lovely apple and rhubarb.

Cawston press is also delicious.

San Pelligrino (as above), they also do a delicious orange and pomegranate... yes, I like pomegranate!!

On the BBC good food site there's a recipe for apple sparkle (or something like that. It's the one with mint as well. It's my go to for parties, and loved by all.

Appletiser is always nice too.

Also, just to have generally, tap water with some lemon and cucumber (and some mint if you're partial) is delicious.

amammabear · 21/12/2016 14:16

I love the non-alcoholic Koppaberg ciders, especially the berry flavour!

HemanOrSheRa · 21/12/2016 14:19

Waitrose stock Five Valleys cordials. They are gorgeous. I particularly like the pomegranate and rose one with sparkling water, ice and a slice of lime.

DubiousCredentials · 21/12/2016 14:20

I like Coca Cola Blush

CatatonicLadybug · 21/12/2016 14:22

Luscombe Raspberry Crush. I think it's raspberry, lemon, and vanilla if I remember correctly. It was the non-alcoholic option at our wedding and ran out far before the wine and fizz!

M&S do a winter warmer in the chilled juice section that's basically mulled clementine juice so feels very Christmassy. Works as a good mixer with soda, lemonade, or prosecco etc. We left all three options with it for a party that had quite a few non-drinkers and it was a hit with everyone.

Jydel · 21/12/2016 14:24

Orange juice and coke! Sounds disgusting but it's delicious. Called a Spetsi in Austria!

halcyondays · 21/12/2016 14:38

Speaking of orange and coke, does anyone remember years ago Quosh did a squash that was a mix of orange and cola?

I also used to mix coke and fizzy orange at Ikea, after seeing someone else do it, but hen they took the fizzy drinks away and replaced with flavoured waters.

NameChange30 · 21/12/2016 14:41

Dubious
I love it too! Well Diet Coke to be precise. But it is good to have other options Smile

Brown76 · 21/12/2016 14:47

There's a big range here: www.alcoholfree.co.uk/all-drinks-c-2.html

I like Apple Mojitos (apple juice, mint, crushed ice), also iced tea or merlot grape juice.

AlwaysNeverOnTime · 21/12/2016 19:01

Ribeana!

QuestionableMouse · 21/12/2016 19:16

I really like fresh orange juice mixed with soda water. It's very refreshing

SealSong · 21/12/2016 20:04

Nearly forgot about Fentimans....lovely dandelion and burdock, fiery ginger beer, and mandarin and seville orange pop.

Great thread, by the way. Lots of fantastic ideas.

chocolateworshipper · 21/12/2016 22:10

My teens are mad about glitter berry J2Os. They look really pretty, but I haven't tried them myself.

I'm partial to Schloer myself - the white grape one.

If you fancy low alcohol - I like the bottles of Bucks Fizz that you can buy in Tesco or M&S (and probably other places)
