no christmas stockings and present for baby ds

hi does anyone else not bother with xmas stockings? i never do. kids never ask either.

also any ideas what i can get 7 month old ds for xmas hes just sitting up. thanks

For 7mth old how about some traditional wooden toys we like Lanka kade, Grimm and Hape

i dont think hes ready for them sort of things. plus i recon my 20 month old might hurt someone with them :/

We have gone with baby toys, a new foil blanket and I can't remember what else!

DD will only have a stocking this year from us.

We never had stockings growing up, just a wrapped selection box at the end of the bed. I've done my mum one for this year but don't think she quite gets it. I've put in a few things, magazine, ect, to keep her amused until I wake up (She wakes around 6-7 am.) but she's insisting I get up early and so she can open it in front of me!
I don't have any suggestions for your baby son, but I do wish you a very merry Christmas.

What about one of those Roly poly type toys- they have a rounded base, and when baby pushes them, they chime, and come upright again.
Or the Fisher Price discovery blocks are good.

I've got my 8 month old an inflatable rolly thing, a bath octopus and a toy remote control in the vain hope that it will stop her channel hopping shenanigans with the real ones.

Musical toys? B.toys do big plastic drum that's full of jingle bells and rattle and stuff.

My 9 month old has got a shape sorter, a nice plate, bowl and cutlery set and some books. He is getting a stocking from Santa, I think I've probably gone a bit ott with his stocking but he's our first and I'm very quite excited. I've got a feeling his favourite thing will be the wrapping paper.

My niece is 10 months and we've got her some small teething toys and rattles, a baby xylophone, some cute outfits, and a shape sorter. For her stocking I put in some small rattles and baby brush and comb set as her hair is getting longer already!

Dottydoodoo - The running joke in our house is that we should have just got my niece a cardboard box with wrapping paper as she'll most likely be entertained with that more than toys!!

How old are your other children? How do they cope when they find out Santa goes to other children but not to them? Or have I misunderstood?

pkime yes you have misunderstood stood. They get presents just not stockings the younger ones dont the get stockings either. But they still get presents....I have never bought them. Just wondered if anyone else does not..

The teething toys are a good idea.I was thinking maybe somthing colourful/lights but not you big 8 don't know what though

We never got stockings growing up and we never gave it a second thought. I do them now though, I find it handy for holding little presents.
My daughter was 10m last year. Her favourite present that still gets played with is a Leapfrog My Pal Violet teddy. Play tent was a big hit as well as ball pit. She had a little fisher price piano that has aged well with her.

Well if you haven't done previously and various ages I wouldn't worry about starting as they assume santa just brings gifts and puts under a tree

Wooden toys are great, that's what I would have brought 20 month old as they last forever. Mine at 7 years play with daily. No plastic snapping off sharp.

For 7 month old he doesn't really need anything but if you want to get something so other kids don't think santa has forgotten, I would just get basics you would need to get anyway in next few months.

• new cardigan in age 9-12 months
• a board book (20 month old can use anyway)
• some warm booties
• baby shampoo

art Yeah it's more so he has something I have got him a bird type toy. It's got a link thing so it can hang of prams and stuff. A plastic trangle that has a rattle bit and colors and twists. There's lots of stuff that 20 month old that baby ds can play with. He does not need clothes. Maybe I should just leave it at the couple bits he has. They don't believe in Santa

Ok, it's just that in my house all FC brings is the stockings. So I thought they might think... Oh never mind. I'll shut up.

I don't do stockings for Christmas either, we do them on the 6th of January in my country but we only put little things in them like oranges and sweets and little pocket money toys.

We've got DS (8.5 months) a teddy bear from us and a little wooden rocking horse from Father Christmas...it's from 1 plus but hopefully it'll last him years.

I'd recommend a foil helium balloon too, we took one home from a friends birthday and DS will spend ages batting at it.
