I noticed this and thought maybe we were counting down to Christmas Eve.
My to do list is now shorter! The main thing for today is buying a present for DH. (He only told me what he wanted a week ago - well he sent a list of two items and the other was socks!)

MrsDilligaf · 23/12/2016 09:46

Lol!!

So it's 2 days till Christmas Day!!

2 Xmas Grin

Well, I have been up since the wee small hours, I did Tesco, made cranberry sauce, steeped the milk for the bread sauce, re-arranged the fridge and freezers so busy morning.

HOWEVER...I forgot to get a few bits so we're going to Morrisons in a bit. DH has gone to the tip as he's on a mission to tidy up the garage and the ever-delightful Moo has just wiped her snotty nose on my sofa cushions!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/12/2016 10:33

I have a Christmas Fridge now Xmas Grin

Took DH to work and pottered off to buy the last bits (most of which I cannot eat because of my IBS.
I can do limited, very limited things if I space them out (and stay near a loo Xmas Blush ) but its Christmas and I'm threatening my intestines with Immodium and a Buscopan if they protest,

One of my guinea-pigs is unwell so we're off to the vets soon, little soul.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/12/2016 10:36

XMasClock says 1 day 13 hours.

Last year the Space Station passed over about 4pm, we stood outside watching it. "Santas Sleigh" Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 23/12/2016 10:37

Hope your piggy is soon on the mend 70

Mummyreindeerlegz · 23/12/2016 10:40

My ibs is very very unhappy. Luckily tomorrow is with my sister who suffers too so will know if I disappear for a while. I have buscopan and Imodium in my handbag. I'm just hoping I avoid the lying on the bathroom floor in agony bit.

We are watching bed knobs and broom sticks!

HungryHorace · 23/12/2016 11:56

I hope your piggy is better soon, 70.

I was wondering about our countdown too...it's definitely 2 days to go! Maybe we somehow skipped one in our excitement! 😂🎄🎄🎄

Well, it's been chaos here today: Argos delivery (DD's birthday present - first bike - bought 6 months' early as it was in the sale); Sainsbury's delivery which was a crate short as it had gone AWOL plus crap substitutions, meaning I had to do a mercy dash to our local Sainsbury's to collect the missing stuff - there, round and back in 50 minutes; hair cuts for 3 of us (thankfully at home!) and an Amazon delivery. Just need to go to Booths to collect the rest of our food and we are DONE!

Woolly, are you back home yet?! I hope the M6 was / is being kind to you.

HungryHorace · 23/12/2016 11:57

Oh, I have IBS too. Thankfully only mild though. Hopefully Christmas food won't set me off!

Sorry some of you really suffer with it.

TheWoollybacksWife · 23/12/2016 14:32

Home safely thank you Horace

The M6 was on its very best behaviour today - 2hrs 25 door to door.

HungryHorace · 23/12/2016 14:37

That's a cracking time, well done!

Fastest I've ever done door-to-door is 2.5 hours. On Christmas Day 8 years' ago!

We've just collected from Booths and once we get home we don't need to go anywhere again before Christmas Day if we don't feel like it! 😁🎄

ConstantlyCooking · 23/12/2016 15:12

I have finally bought DH's main gift and had a lovely surprise when I got to the till - it was half price Xmas Grin
My to do list looks manageable now and I should be able to enjoy tomorrow.
DH and I are wrapping the DC's presents tomorrow morning. We realised last year that, now they are older, it makes more sense to wrap in the morning rather than waiting for them to go to bed.

Guitargirl · 23/12/2016 15:48

I have just trekked across to the other side of London with the DCs to go a food shop which sells food from DP's homeland. Bought some nice things for him to eat as a surprise for the time in between Christmas and New Year as I am away with the DCs. There is only one of those shops in London though and it's about as far away as it can be from us so was a bit of a mammoth journey via numerous public transport routes. It's bad out there folks Xmas Shock.

Have just about managed to shoehorn it all into the freezer and now am having a Belgian chocolate Baileys. Yum. Ee.

Hope wee guinea pig is feeling better 70 and that everyone's guts hold up over the next few days!

HandbagCrazy · 23/12/2016 16:24

70 fingers crossed for piggy!

I'm getting ready to leave Scotland and get home now. Am just hoping my flight can leave as the weathers all over the place.

We went to a whiskey distillery and had a several tasters. Somehow ended up buying DH an extortionately expensive whiskey as an extra present Blush And after not allowing myself to twitch for weeks!

Have also just signed up to look after dnephew tomorrow which I'm really looking forward to. I don't have dc so to have a very excited 7 year old for a few hours will be lovely. We're going to make a big decoration for him to give to dsis and eat lots of treats Xmas Smile
Feeling so in the spirit today!

Mummyreindeerlegz · 23/12/2016 16:45

We went to islay earlier in the year and there was much tasting! I'm sure your dh will be very pleased.

One day to go!!!!

Cinnamon roll dough is in the fridge, ham is going to be cooked in Coke today and then I'm done. No more prep.

HungryHorace · 24/12/2016 08:23

It's housework day here today (as it's Sat, not especially for Christmas). Then I need to make mince pies (might save cleaning that part of the kitchen til later!).

I still need to wrap 2 presents for the kids as well as recording a message for a biscuit tin for DH's parents. Then that also needs wrapping. Then, done!

MrsDilligaf · 24/12/2016 09:02

Wheeeee!!!!

Happy Christmas Eve Xmas Grin

Christmas Eve Xmas Grin

I got the cake iced (I mixed it, DD did the arty stuff with a palette knife) need to decide on decorations.

DS is grumpily still in bed (17yo Duvet Sloth. Never let us sleep beyond 5am as a baby. Now expects a lie-in. Hmmmm)

DH and I are going for a wander round town , just because .(He doesn't do shopping , he won't know what he's letting himself in for) Xmas Grin

The piggie has 3 different medications, has done the most unpleasant output but now seems happier though it can still go "PeteTong" with guinea-pigs. They are vunerable little rodents.

lollyj84 · 24/12/2016 10:03

Happy christmas eve.
i hope all for hard work and prep pays off and everybody has a wonderful few days.

Guitargirl · 24/12/2016 15:26

Happy Christmas Eve one and all!

We have just got back from the cinema, the DCs are having a bath and then we'll be doing gingerbread house decorating.

Is it wrong that I am slightly envious of those who have sleeping teens?

I know young children and the magic of Christmas, etc. etc. But my DCs are now nearly 10 and 8 and they both seem to still believe. It's lovely of course but the slight problem with that is that I tend to be asleep before they are these days and I can see it being a long night! Am knackered! Weirdly I also kind of remember enjoying Christmas more when I was growing up after I stopped believing in Father Christmas. It somehow seemed to remove some of the frenzy and anxiety over it all. Oh well, am sure when they stop believing I will look back on these days wistfully.

Am trying to stay off the wine today as I know I'll be nodding off by 7pm otherwise. I was awake from 2am till about 5am last night worrying about being awake Hmm. And then up again at 6am to sort out the elves...

Anyway, I am going to sign off now for Christmas - yippee! I hope everyone has a wonderful few days. Happy Christmas everyone!! Xmas Smile Xmas Smile.

TheWoollybacksWife · 24/12/2016 20:03

I'm just picking DD2 up from work and then will get home and crack open the bubbles. I've got a stinker of a head cold so I'm hoping the alcohol will help dry up the snot. Xmas Grin

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. See you on the other side...

HandbagCrazy · 24/12/2016 22:08

Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm just back from my parents. Had a great afternoon with dnephew making a giant Christmas card for dsis and had a drive around looking at the over-decorated houses.
Have just got back from a family party at my parents - had a takeaway and lots of games and singing.
Am now eating chocolate and drinking a rum & coke, enjoying my twinkly tree lights and settling in for Christmas. See you on the other side Xmas Smile
