Horace I ended up meeting friends for breakfast at your hotel this morning. I briefly contemplated approaching every table and saying "Horace?" but decided I'd look like a right divvy Grin

DS and his pals are having a Minecraft marathon on the sofa while I work my way through the laundry. Who on earth decided that two days at school this week was a good idea AND then made Monday a uniform day and Tuesday a mufti day?

HungryHorace · 21/12/2016 13:40

That would've been hilarious, Woolly! 😂 What time did you arrive? I wonder if we were in there together?!

We create washing like nothing else in our house. It's amazing how little clothes seem to breed!

Mummyreindeerlegz · 21/12/2016 14:58

I made fudge!

HungryHorace · 21/12/2016 15:00

Ooh. Get you, Mummy! It looks ace. Xmas Smile

Mummyreindeerlegz · 21/12/2016 15:07

I'm hoping it'll firm up a bit and be robust enough to keep its shape. They were great fun to make!

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/12/2016 16:49

I arrived just before 10 o'clock with my DS and we were sitting on the big round table closest to the croissants We were the last table to leave - they were setting up for lunch around us Xmas Blush

HungryHorace · 21/12/2016 16:59

We were still in there then. Did you see me walking round with toddler DS (I'm tall, wearing jeans and a blue hoody)? Or toddler DD at the fruit / croissant area?

I think I saw people at that table as I walked past with DS. 😁

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/12/2016 17:10

Sitting near the tea/coffee machine? If so you were top of my list for my random Horace interrogation. Grin

HungryHorace · 21/12/2016 17:14

That's us! You should've come over and talked in code about something only I would've known! 😂

To do:
Buy turkey
Buy gammon
Buy trimmings
Make stuffing
Ice cake and buy/make 2 pudding
Bottle Christmas vodka
Make chilli jam
Hmm better get off the sofa and start movingXmas Wink

Good morning all!!

Wooly and Horace that's so funny - next year, you should agree a code in advance on here, and we can all watch the fallout!!

Constantly you seem pretty on top of things, enjoy the sofa for a few extra minutes.

GuitarGirl I hope the winter wonderland was as exciting for the DCs as anticipated, and that you caught up on yourself last night. Send everyone else for a run in the park today and to get one item each on your list on their way home! While you have time to chillax and/or get the rest organized without the chaos of overexcitement!

I haven't seen 70s for a while, I hope she and the GPs are doing ok (and not that they have battered her for making them wear funny costumes again!).

Thanks Mrs D for the friendly punch on the arm yesterday - I feel much more human today rather than the "wading through treacle" that I've felt like for a week.

I went home from work at lunch, had a really nice sandwich in peace, collected the car and did a few jobs before getting home a little earlier than normal (DD was home all afternoon so going home before she went out would have been a BAD idea! Hyper!!). And as it was an easy dinner night (spag bol from freezer) and I had an hour of calm before DD arrived home again, I got DH's present wrapped, DD and I made the children's desert (chocolate biscuit cake in a pudding bowl, it will have white chocolate on top to look like a real pudding!) and I got the butter icing for her birthday cake and my mince pie pastry made. And then I actually slept!

Today, there are a few things to clear on my desk, and emails to send about school stuff. I don't have any shopping I NEED to do, although I do need to try and get both DD's and my watches fixed (hers needs a strap while mine needs a battery). Tonight my DAunt is coming over to exchange gifts (for under our respective trees) - I'm handing over all mine for the extended family, while I am the courier to my family for the extended family (I believe a fair amount of car space is needed), and she will stay for dinner. And then I have the rest of the packing to do - but I have a list or 2, and am clearer in my mind what is needed.

Tomorrow, DD is coming to work with me, we are going to M&S en route to get party nibbles, tram out to meet DH in the late morning (whenever I can escape) and then we are on the road!!!! Rain is forecast, but I will get a few nice nibbles for a car picnic (the services will all be jammed!).

Mummyreindeerlegz · 22/12/2016 12:47

Sounds like everyone is full in the festive swing!

Our elf on the shelf is leaving tomorrow and is providing a farewell breakfast. I'm ridiculously excited for someone that has to make the thing at stupid o clock!

MrsDilligaf · 22/12/2016 15:10

Well...I'm going to have a corker of a bruise for Christmas. I somehow managed to open the car door onto my eyebrow! Bloody Hell did it hurt (still hurts) I swore. I cried. I considered ringing DH to tell him to come home and look after me (he wouldn't have been impressed)

Popped into Morrisons - blue murder in there so I thought "nope...this will not improve my mood". Might go to Tesco when DH gets home.

What are you all wearing on Christmas Day? I have told DH that jeans are banned and we will dress up - all well and good except I haven't got anything to dress up into!

Sounds as though everyone's preparations are going well! Hope everyone who is travelling to their Christmas destinations have good hassle-free journeys.

We are having a very chilled day today. Our family visitors have been staying since Tuesday, they were supposed to leave this evening but they've had a bit of a mini crisis at home (nothing majorly serious but serious enough for them to have to get back for) so they left really early this morning.

So basically had an unexpected day free today and we've just been relaxing at home. DCs have watched a Harry Potter film that they haven't seen before and I have had a nap!

Winter Wonderland was actually not too bad yesterday. It's still a total rip-off and I still don't like it but at least it was something to entertain our visitors and the DCs loved it. We took the bus home back up Oxford Street and sat upstairs to see the lights. It was rammed full of Christmas shoppers. The Disney store practically had queues to get in.

I am still waiting for a couple of parcels to arrive and actually panic bought an identical present the other day as it was looking as though the one I had ordered wasn't going to arrive before Christmas. If it eventually shows up after Christmas I guess I'll stick it in the present drawer. I need to wrap what I'm still waiting to be delivered and then I think I'm done.

Just crossing fingers now that none of us gets ill as people around us seem to be going down like dominoes...

Mummyreindeerlegz · 22/12/2016 15:23

We've been decorating biscuits and now watching movies.

I have a very nice red dress to wear on Christmas Day. But it won't fit at this rate as I keep eating!!

Dh and the boys have new outfits, dh has new smart jeans, a shirt and a cardigan. Though I think the shirt might be too small. He doesn't know about any of it!

Guitargirl · 22/12/2016 15:24

Ouch Mrs D - that sounds painful! Can you send DH to Tesco when he gets home whilst you put your feet up with some ice on your head and some Baileys in a glass?

TheWoollybacksWife · 22/12/2016 15:34

Arrived safely at DMum's. The M6 was a carpark Angry and I'm not looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow particularly as DH has been warning me all week that we have to leave at sparrow fart to avoid the masses of people who will be travelling. Sad

MrsDilligaf · 22/12/2016 16:28

Send DH to Tesco? By himself? Ooooh no!! That will not end well and is likely to make my headache worse.

Martha has been out of sorts for a day or so, but now has her third tooth! No 4 will be through before Christmas I suspect

OP posts:
HungryHorace · 22/12/2016 16:40

Woolly, was it along the stupidly long and dull part of the M6 going past Staffs? That was solid for some of our journey yesterday. We were originally going to go south today and return tomorrow, so I'm glad I changed our plans if it was hideous today!

Teething is grim, MrsD. DS got 7 teeth in 10 days when he was Martha's age, give or take. That was SO much fun! 😩

TheWoollybacksWife · 22/12/2016 16:51

Horace yes - junctions 16 to 19 and southbound looked worse.

MrsD I did exactly the same about 6 years ago. Ice to reduce swelling - one for your injury and one for a glass of something to dull the pain Grin

DD1 was an April baby and teethed all the way through her first Christmas. Lovely rosy cheeks and a dribbly chin in every photo.

HandbagCrazy · 22/12/2016 17:54

Well it sounds as everyone's plans are well under way!

Thankfully it was just something I had eaten rather than a bug so I'm fine, which is just as well as DHs surprise trip away has us at the top of Scotland until tomorrow! It's bitterly cold and we've had some snow which is lovely. Only worry is that it's forecast 90mph winds and we're a bit worried we won't get home.

Christmas-wise though, I have all the food shopping except bread and milk and presents are done. Only jobs left is to pick dogs up,from kennels, whizz the Hoover around and spend Christmas Eve with my family playing silly games and drinking prosecco Xmas Smile

Mummyreindeerlegz · 22/12/2016 18:48

Gabriel is cutting molars poor boy, sympathy for teething. It ducks.

We've been making biscuit gingerbread houses. Toddler friendly afternoon activity.

Two glasses of prosecco later and funnily enough my head doesn't throb quite so much Xmas Grin

MrsDilligaf · 23/12/2016 02:06

I'm confused Confused have we've mis-counted our countdown??

no jokes about blows to the head

Today is 23rd December, so that makes it 2 days to go today?

Tis all a but much for me...I might go for a wander round Tesco Xmas Hmm

OP posts:
Mummyreindeerlegz · 23/12/2016 09:27

I've been thinking this for a while. Have we missed a leap day or something?

So erm two slash one days to go. Tomorrow there will be one slash zero.
