Help! Drawing a blank for DNiece this year - her mum says give her money (we give her older brother and sister money or vouchers) but at her older sister's 18th in the summer watching her receive a card with a cheque in it small niece said to me she thought it was boring getting money for presents. (Not brattily at all to say - just a genuine observation on her part.) I realise this could have changed in six months but i remember preferring 'actual' presents until I was well into my teens. But what??

Budget £15-£20 each for Christmas and birthday present. She's not overly into reading or watching TV, very active and outdoorsy, quite likes crafts as long as they don't take too long sitting down concentrating.

HELP ME.

My dd is 8 some things she loves (and has for christmas)

Roller skates (I bought hers on amazon)
Build a bear - especially going to choose one to stuff etc. If doing this maybe an accessory (they do birthday cakes) with a voucher attached to a helium balloon in a box as it makes it more exciting :)
Graphic novel books - favourites are adventure time or teen titans
A bird watching book with a set of binoculars
Audio books - Roald Dahl or David Williams.
Harry potter - anything about it! There's a lovely illustrated edition of the first 2
Trolls (the new film) the soundtrack is always on here!!
New clothes - especially character themed or sparkly or funky patterned.
Snow globes
Colouring or writing books and nice pens
Aquabeads - dd got the starter kit for her birthday and loved it.

Telescope and metal detector are ideas I have for her next year :)

Hope this helps :)

8 year old DD loves shopkins, Lego friends, build a bear, anything from Claire's, anything from smiggle, doh vinci, monster high, our generation/designafriend dolls.

My 8 year old cousin loves anything from smiggle, and Harry Potter.

I'd be tempted to give money for Christmas and a gift for birthday. With the logic most kids get lots at Christmas so she won't be as disappointed with money.
But logically (the way 9 year olds don't see) it means she can keep the money until later in the year when their is something that she actually wants.

Smiggle stuff. I have a 9 year old daughter and a few 8 year old nieces. It's Smiggle all the way apparently.

If also do money for Xmas and a selection box as she'll have more to open so maybe won't find it boring and can get something in the sales and get a gift for her birthday

Maybe a puzzle or a book or a watch?

Or a lush gift set. The snowfairy one is very sweet smelling and would be perfect for a 9 year old
