Board games for adults

Always try to find a new board game every year to play on Xmas day. DC all grown up now but the tradition is still going strong. We have all the most obvious ones. Are there any new ones, say, out in the last two years, that you could recommend?

Just bought Obama Llama for our all-adult Christmas this year. Hoping it'll go down well.

We got ticket last year and I really really enjoyed it - it was hard the first round as a few fiddly bits to remember but second time we all had it well. Hoping I can get DH to play with me this year Sad

Had our first game of Ticket today and we really loved it! Everyone cottoned on quite quickly at least to the basic game-play, and when we finished we all felt eager for another go.

It was specially relevant for us this year as DD1 and I crossed the USA from Boston to San Francisco by train in September - which didn't appear to give me the headstart I'd hoped for on my route cards Xmas Grin

Thank you to everyone who recommended and endorsed it.

If you're on Facebook there are a couple of good groups for hearing about new and classic board and card games. Lots of really useful reviews and tutorials.

On YouTube the dice tower does great run through videos and reviews. They do a top ten too.

If you're after something silly, Munchkin might suit you...

"Go down in the dungeon. Kill everything you meet. Backstab your friends and steal their stuff.

"Munchkin is the mega-hit card game about dungeon adventure . . . with none of that stupid roleplaying stuff. You and your friends compete to kill monsters and grab magic items. And what magic items! Don the Horny Helmet and the Boots of Butt-Kicking. Wield the Staff of Napalm . . . or maybe the Chainsaw of Bloody Dismemberment. Start by slaughtering the Potted Plant and the Drooling Slime, and work your way up to the Plutonium Dragon . . ."

We've got The Chase for Christmas Day. We do like a tacky quiz game.
