Is it just me?
As I get older I can't be bothered
I used to love it all
The excitement, shopping, wrapping
Putting up the tree
I'm putting the tree up today and I can't be arsed with any of itConfused

GingleBellsAndSonicSleigh. Take them to the park for an hour in the morning ... Fresh air helps massively to get them to eat and chill out

randomeragain · 24/12/2016 19:53

cant wait for it to be over

RFHrules · 24/12/2016 20:53

My husband is being vile and pathetic. I'm trying hard tomorrow for my children and my elderly parents. Can't wait for it to be over. I'm looking forward to Call the Midwife, that's about it.

I just want to get back to work. I was supposed to be off until early January but I've offered to do a shift next week for a colleague who really wants the day off.

LunaLoveg00d · 24/12/2016 21:32

DH has told the kids that they can get up and HALF PAST FECKING SIX tomorrow morning.

It's just prolonging the agony, they will be little ratbags by the time we have our Christmas meal.

Lorelei76 · 24/12/2016 22:20

Ginger, I feel for you, anxiety is the pits.

Evening slightly cheered by Kylie Minogue (no she didn't come round, I mean on the tv).

Luna, half past six?! That's crazy time.

Lottapianos · 25/12/2016 08:48

I saw the add for furniture sales on TV last night and found them extremely cheering. January is on the way!

Lorelei76 · 25/12/2016 10:02

Lotta, how funny! I don't tend to see many ads as I mute them.
I would like a sofa bed with one of those long ends, corner sofa type thing, but they need to be quite compact to fit in the flat.

Lorelei76 · 25/12/2016 10:03

Oh before I forget - bah humbug everyone Grin hope you get through the day as easily as possible.

Lottapianos · 25/12/2016 10:06

Big bah humbug to you too Lorelei. Hope everyone's nerves remain intact throughout the day. It's touch and go here Grin

randomeragain · 25/12/2016 10:38

bah bah bah.......every year we spend what to us seems loads and end up with 2 or 3 smallish things each....its madness.

MaryChalloner · 25/12/2016 10:43

morning all, can I join?

. ginger I'm in a similar situation - dumped 2 weeks ago out of the blue with someone I was so happy with. On my own with my children, suffering from anxiety symptoms and trying to fake it until I can make it (or something)

Just want it all over so I can go back to work and be distracted.

Lorelei76 · 25/12/2016 10:50

Mum is feeling better so I'm trying to encourage her to go out wth dad while I food prep. Sadly as its emperor new clothes day she thinks we should be together all day!!

MadisonMontgomery · 25/12/2016 10:50

I just can't get into Christmas! Every year I try to act excited & cheery so I don't get everyone asking what's wrong, but I just can't be bothered with it. Hate being forced to spend time with family & pretending to love presents I don't like. The sooner it's all over the better.

Lorelei76 · 25/12/2016 11:33

They're not going out
So bored.

Newbrummie · 25/12/2016 11:38

Start planning your summer holiday ... I have ! We're learning Italian before we go

MaryChalloner · 25/12/2016 11:41

yes my dcs are reading through the Lonely Planet 500 best places in the world (bought for me my ds1) . We're looking for the summer.

Thinking about a trip for half term on my own

and I bought me my ds1 a trip to Amsterdam for joint birthday/xmas.

So lots to look forward to in 2017! (gin is now taking hold Smile)

HarHer · 25/12/2016 12:46

Well,

We are half way through the day. My eldest son has arrived from the CAMHS unit with a few new self harming marks (apparently he fell out with another young person on the unit). My youngest is cooking our Christmas lunch (under supervision). My husband has gone to his mothers and the step father he professes to 'hate' for lunch (I hope they hide the carving knife) and so far everything is quiet.

I am having some great conversations with my sons, so there are some positives.

Newbrummie · 25/12/2016 12:56

MaryChalloner - I did snigger it was a joint present 😜

Lorelei76 · 25/12/2016 14:33

It's hard to do anything much in someone else's home esp when they are wondering why I'm on my iPad....!

I am going to be so pleased to see my own home in appr 24 hours!

bananafish81 · 25/12/2016 18:27

Spent all day in my tracky bottoms

DH and I shoved an M&S roast chicken pie in the oven

The only Christmassy thing in this household was watching Christmas TOTP

Watched Singin in the Rain

No stress about presents and DH and I didn't do them

And my family haven't done presents since my brother and I were kids

So didn't have anyone to buy for

This Christmas business is a doddle to ignore if you sidestep it altogether!

Lorelei76 · 25/12/2016 20:37

Yes when my folks are gone I'm sidestepping it

Btw some of the threads today.....I am really not one to,sympathise with partners being crap but there are some threads today where it looks as though some people are being crap because they're simply overwhelmed and pissed off by pointless pressure.

Lorelei76 · 25/12/2016 23:47

Well I was going to post a cheery post saying thank goodness it's over
But dad has just told me about George Michael and of course we will have to tell mum in the morning
She is ill as I've mentioned many times - sorry - and so much life has gone out of her already, this will take a toll. I'm in tears but luckily she went to be early. Dad is still parked in front of the tv looking dreadfully upset.
Funny how the soundtracks of our lives become part of us.

randomeragain · 26/12/2016 10:30

next year.....2 bags for the " boys" (adult males)....a bottle , chocs and a gift each . bloody hell exhausted and broke now.

MrsJayy · 26/12/2016 11:34

Had a lovely morning yesterday with Dh and the dds they are adults so were not up at daft Oclock but went to mums for dinner my stepdad and sister are so bloody lazy and self centered they just sat on their arses while me and Dh helped mum in the kitchen . I was so annoyed i kept snapping at people what a Hoha Christmas is.
