Is it just me?
As I get older I can't be bothered
I used to love it all
The excitement, shopping, wrapping
Putting up the tree
I'm putting the tree up today and I can't be arsed with any of itConfused

Oh I think the drunk lady did say something about the back of a spoon!

Yosh, people are so excited to buy tat, I told them I don't need gifts, they still buy, I direct them to the Amazon wish list, they ignore. It's batshit.

I haven't seen the food thread but a few years back, my parents fell for the hype to buy stupid amounts of food and then try to send me home with it, take it to the office etc. I told them we'd all had more than enough and took some to the local homeless shelter and the rest to the food bank. It got the message across.

blackheartedone · 18/12/2016 22:41

where's the thread randomer I want something else to be grumpy about as I'm currently wallowing in self pity after upsetting scan results.

I think I'm going to eat some mince pies and force the festive feeling upon myself.

randomeragain · 19/12/2016 08:31

something like " check my menu" people will be passing enough gas to fuel a country.

Aroseforemily · 19/12/2016 11:40

We just aren't bothering this year. It's going to be DH and me, I had major surgery 6 weeks ago and am still recovering, he doesn't get any extra time off work. He finishes work on Friday and back in at 5am on Monday.
We are going to having a pimped up sausage and mash.
I just want it all over.

Lorelei76 · 19/12/2016 13:15

Pimped up sausage, lol.

One day when the olds are gone I'm going to sit in the flat, watch tv, eat crisps and nap.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/12/2016 16:30

Hello ^^

I am someone who loathes and detests Christmas... can I come in? Grin

Lottapianos · 19/12/2016 16:36

Livia, I'm not stalking you, but I do enjoy your posts about Christmas Smile I can't stand it and im childfree too so i see you as a kindred spirit! I'm sure we're all welcome on this thread.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/12/2016 16:43

lotta GrinGrin
I have just had to go to the city centre shops - week before Christmas Shock It wasn't even for me - my boss cba to get a secret Santa present so he sent me Angry

Lottapianos · 19/12/2016 16:58

What a total plum! Is buying gifts for your boss part of your job description?! Didn't think so! What a cheek to even ask you..

Cannot begin to imagine what the shops were like today - I need a lie down at the very thought. Haven't set foot in the shops for a week or so

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/12/2016 17:19

No - and to make it worse he knows I'm not doing the SS and he knows why Shock

Lorelei76 · 19/12/2016 17:35

Another child free one here. Is it just me who puts the child scribble cards straight in the bin?

This thread is going to be a life saver, I feel even worse about Xmas than usual, though I'm sure you can tell. My colleagues think my grumpiness is down to mum's health and keep offering me tea, bless them.

I would hate to go to the shops at the mo, what was it like?

Lorelei76 · 19/12/2016 18:28

Btw shall we all say "bah humbug" to each other on the day?

I notice this thread is in the Christmas topic, remember posters being angry when Brexit threads weren't under the topic? Well I think all the blooming Xmas threads should be under Xmas....it's taking over AIBU and Chat now.

Flowersonthewall · 19/12/2016 18:45

I feel the same I have 3 dcs and do love their excitement about Christmas but I just feel...What's it all for??? Why do we have to get all these presents for everyone and his dog?why do I have to cook a massive meal for all and sundry. ..why all these expectations! Social media doesn't help and there are so many Christmas events you can spend a small fortune in, I do find it all a bit excessive. Christmas cleaning, food prep, wrapping etc it's all just too much and I still can't help questioning why!
I would just be happy for me dh and the dc just to have a week off together, enjoy nice meals and do some stuff together. In fact thats what we wjll do. I'm determined we aren't getting sucked into doing all the Christmas shit!

Lorelei76 · 20/12/2016 01:05

Sounds good Flowers.
"what is it all for?" Is definitely the question. Commerce is the answer I guess.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 20/12/2016 04:21

Bah humbug definitely.

My mother left a voicemail telling me she'd organised all her travel and tickets 'weeks ago', oh and by the way she'll be staying an extra few days.

Ffs. I can't actually bear it.

Baylisiana · 20/12/2016 04:56

Can I say a massive bah humbug about the fact that I am so behind with everything I have been up desperately scanning last order cut off times online and wondering if I can bring myself to pay ludicrous priority delivery charges. I now have to try and snatch a few hours sleep before braving central London GOD HELP ME shops tomorrow.

Baaah...

Baylisiana · 20/12/2016 04:58

I am not going to be able to sleep now because I am angry with Christmas Xmas Angry

butterandcrumpets · 20/12/2016 09:30

I am struggling too this year. Dh has left me a few months ago; no children. The thing is, I love Christmas, but this year it just highlights the emptiness of the house and that I am alone. My friends and colleagues all diappear into their families and I feel alone. I am religious though and that has helped a little, although I had to swallow back tears in the Carol Service. Being part of the community though is nice. Hopefully, next year will be better.

Lorelei76 · 20/12/2016 09:49

butter, you can chat here on the day but you must promise to greet me with Bah Humbug!

Baby, please can I request a loaf and some veggies?

I can't work out if the supermarket will be okay when I get back from work. It should be shouldn't it - I guess Thu/Fri/Sat will be bad? Having to plan such simple errands pees me off!

butterandcrumpets · 20/12/2016 10:04

Ha, thank you Lorelei, I might do that although I am still determined to muster up some sort of festive cheer....which probably means I will have to leave this tread Grin.

Am travelling to my parents which involves a 2h car journey here, 1.5h on the plane and then 2.5h on the train the other side. I am looking forward to seeing them but cannot be arsed to pack. Am currently filling my suitcase with all sorts random stuff.

butterandcrumpets · 20/12/2016 10:05

of random suff

Lottapianos · 20/12/2016 12:13

butter, that's horrendous. I'm so sorry. Christmas can be such a lonely time of year. If it helps, please know that you're not alone in feeling that way x

Lorelei76 · 20/12/2016 12:51

work is boring
Mn is full of xmas shite
friends are all preparing xmas shite.
bored bored bored.

is it nearly over yet? (whines)

whyistherumgone · 20/12/2016 16:59

I'm very grumpy this year which has only been compounded by the fact that I received a Christmas list from a relative who will remain unnamed that listed lots of pricey gifts and included "please keep the receipt and do not buy off list :)" at the bottom.
Like arse I will.

On the plus side lots of my work clients are sending me chocolates and lovely things like hampers so I'm mainly sitting here gorging myself I am a giant, anti-Christmas slug while watching trash and snarling at festive adverts.

Good day to you all. :p

Lorelei76 · 20/12/2016 17:56

I never really see adverts on tv
Leaving wrk, will brave supermarket
Wish me luck
You could buy that rellie nothing Grin
I've nothing against lists tbh but only if someone asks
It's better than bin or charity shop.
