So excited.

DD is at a sleepover with a friend, so once she gets back it's off to the garden centre to choose a huge tree, get the decorations down from the loft.

Off to Tesco early to get the shopping done so we can spend the day adoring the tree and eating mince pices.

Meeeeeeeeee Xmas Grin

Probably my favourite day of the year- aside from the actual day itself and my birthday Xmas Wink

We are! Although I'm feeling crap at the moment so the idea isn't filling me with as much joy as it should. Thankfully the kids are old enough to largely throw things on decorate it themselves. Then when the cats have stripped everything off again, I'll put everything back tidily.

I did mine yesterday. We just have some additional garlands and things to put up and then we'll be done.

We got the tree out and put the lights and tinsel on last night, DS added all the baubles etc this morning

PosiePootlePerkins · 11/12/2016 08:54

Me! A bit early for us but we're away next weekend so we're doing it today. I love a Christmas tree but get a bit fed up of it after a couple of weeks.

lostlalaloopsy · 11/12/2016 08:57

Me!!! Have been so busy haven't had a chance yet!

dementedma · 11/12/2016 09:38

Me. Dreading the annual wrangle getting it out of the attic!

NotAPuffin · 11/12/2016 09:38

Not me. We're moving house next week so can't do it till after that.

Aftertheraincomesthesun · 11/12/2016 15:19

Yesterday. It looks lovely and tidy, til the cats find it.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/12/2016 19:43

We did ours (manky prelit that I hate Xmas Hmm ).
We bought it years ago, it arrived late due to the heavy snow (I think the 22nd) and I had to wrangle it together on my own (DH was at work) had to add loads to foamy stuff round the 'trunk' to get it to stand and it loooked naff .
Next year, I added loads more lights, arranged it a while and it looked 'ok'

I was going to buy a new prelit (they are ££ but I was waiting for QVC or Costco).....but I had to get a washing machine so sense took priority.

It's up, glaring at me. I put extra lights -little stars- and loads of glass baubles .
After, it'll go to Fake Tree Heaven.
And I'll look in the sales for a new one.

DD and I assembled and decorated, she put the star on the top because she's taller than me !

LBOCS2 · 11/12/2016 19:48

70, buy this tree, or if you particularly want a prelit (or that one is too big), then this one.

Honestly, I had an extreme prejudice against fake trees. To the extent that when we make the sensible and completely right decision to get a fake tree this year (crawling 7mo) I actually wanted to cry a bit.

I LOVE my new tree. Love it. I'm so impressed, and 1800 positive reviews on Tesco's website can't all be wrong!

We did ours today (actually feels a bit late). Went to see santa first then hit tree farm to pick them and spent afternoon decorating then. Looking very festive here now (even if I don't really feel it)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/12/2016 20:51

LBOCS2 those trees are lovely (the 7' is too tall but a really good price ) .
I'm a fan of prelit now though I do add some extra ones Xmas Grin

The last real tree I bought was very uneven ( as they can be , as a natural product) and cost £50 (about 7-8 years ago).

I have a small potted real tree in the garden which needs to be moved into prime position on the patio and festoned with its outdoor lights. Its on its 7th year with us now, not grown much , I think I'll plant it out this year? (It doesn't come inside , probably hoaching with spiders)

LBOCS2 · 11/12/2016 21:09

Well that's what I was thinking - we easily spend £40 a year on a cut, fresh tree (we never buy live ones because - like you've found - they don't actually grow and end up looking a bit sad in their pot, and like fuck am I planting then digging it up each year...). I was looking at more expensive fake ones but knew then that we'd really need to use it for more than one year to get our money's worth and I was very reluctant to commit to that - so I saw the Tesco one and thought, yeah, it'll do for a year, that's fine. But it's beautiful!

I've told DH that we have to move now so that I can have two trees.
