DD's (9 yrs) Christmas list is full of tat (some of which she'll probably get) and various rellies are asking for suggestions. She's loving Planet Earth II and I wondered about National Geographic KIDS magazine subscription as a present. Anyone get it/recommend it or not? Or other magazines - she likes music/pop stuff too. She likes mags esp. with freebies with them but is not a real bookworm, so it needs to not be too obviously educational! All ideas welcome!!

Definitely recommend National Geoographic, Dd 9.5 has it and loves it. Reads it cover to cover many times.

There's one called Atlas Girl that looks great.

Nat geographic kids is really full of adverts. Eco kids is very good but at 9 she might find it a bit young, dd has been getting it for 2 years and turns 8 this month. I've not investigated atlas girl yet but I know it is a new venture by a woman local to me. Whizz pop bang could be worth considering, science based but I'd say aimed at the same age as Eco kids so maybe a touch young for her, 9 is probably the top end for those ones age wise.

The week junior is good, news based keeping kids up on current affairs in a accessible way but includes the mire lightweight fun news as well as the bigger events.

We've had a subscription for Discovery Box this year which DD adores

Discovery Box is excellent and one my kids ask to have again.

If they are scientifically minded, Whizz Pop Bang is a good one. There are lots of experiments to do together.

Sorry, I didn't read your post properly. Ignore the very obviously science magazine suggestion!

My 6 year old has a Kids National Geographic subscription and he loves it...and so do we! It's really good, informative and fun.

If you collect tesco points national geographic for kids is one of the reward options, or it used to be. Makes it much more economical!
