Does anyone know anything about playing music? Flute or piano?

Dd10 plays both Instruments but I am pretty clueless when it comes to music and playing. She has a piano and a flute but dmil had asked if there is anything relating to her hobbies that she could buy her for xmas. Anyone know of any great accessories that she may like?

A good metronome/music bag/music stand

Flute stand? We got one for DD two years ago. She had a fancy flute case last year.

Some fun music scores. E.g. Show tunes, tunes from the musicals, piano duets if she has anyone she could play with. If you go into a music shop and say what grade she is they should be able to recommend something at the right level.

Ticket to a concert featuring piano or flute music. CD of piano or flute music.

This sort of thing.

Depending on grade there are quite a lot of books with backing tracks (for flute) or just arrangements for piano of film music, including the likes of Frozen, Harry Potter and countless others.

Flute stand, especially one that can tuck into her flute case if she's starting to play in groups.

I used to play the flute as a teen in the 90s. A funky bag would definitely have made my day!

A flute carrying bag like above - fluterscooter brand if grandma has lots of money, tomandwill if she doesn't.

An electronic tuner to tune the flute to.

If she plays the flute she might have fun with a penny whistle or a little plastic Fife (like a sideways recorder).

There are lots of funky colourful music stands too.

I have played the piano since I was very young and would also suggest some fun music that she can learn. I used to love receiving books with the music from my favourite musicals, films etc. What grade is she? Depending on this, maybe a book of Christmas songs/carols. I have a lovely book of the music from the Snowman too. Easy arrangements for music from Disney films maybe.

Sheet music! Look hard for her very favourite songs and/or groups.

Even if you have a piano, a small portable one might be nice, maybe with a headphone jack so she can practice without worrying about bring heard/disturbing others.

I was playing at 10 and got a custom made leather bag for my flute and piccolo. I still have it almost 30 years later.

The leather flute case I was given at the age of 14 is still one of my most treasured possessions, three decades later....
