I need to start wrapping,I've got paper, tags, tape and ribbons now I need the enthusiasm to get my bum into gear. Pass the chocolate lol

Gingernaut · 05/12/2016 18:39

Gift bags with matching tissue paper scrunched on top/around gift.

Only 'properly' wrap gifts that are going in the post.

BroomstickOfLove · 05/12/2016 18:47

I'm planning a mulled wine and wrapping day next week. That's assuming I've got the presents by then...

A1Sharon · 05/12/2016 18:55

Wrap as you go folks, wrap as you go. Its the only way.
Something arrives in the post, it gets wrapped and labelled.
Hit the shops (again!), wrap and label.
Then there is no torturous day and night spent hunched over a seemingly never ending mound of 'stuff that needs wrapped'.

Laska5772 · 05/12/2016 18:58

Every year I say ill wrap as I go .. Every year .. DO I? ever?..
Ah well.. ..
(Actually I like wrapping once ive started .. ) .

I don't mind doing wrapping, I just wish I didn't suck at it.
It never goes well, it always looks shite. :(

CakeNinja · 05/12/2016 19:00

I LOVE wrapping! I go and do all my mums too, and take all the fripperies with me as she doesn't do ribbons/bells and whatever Grin
I plan to get all my shopping done online tonight and tomorrow night, then will do the wrapping closer to Christmas.
Going to choose the tree on Sunday and will have some wrapped to go under it then as I hate seeing bare trees with nothing underneath them.
Wrapping is my favourite part. Xmas Grin

NotAPuffin · 05/12/2016 19:14

I did mine on Saturday while watching the Bishop's Wife and then Arthur Christmas : ) I made the mistake of sitting on the floor though and my hips haven't been the same since.

attheendoftheday · 05/12/2016 19:14

I love wrapping, unless done in a pressurised way on xmas eve. I did the vast majority of ours this weekend, just a few bits that haven't arrived yet to go.

Now if I could just get on top of the house cleaning I'd be OK!

officerhinrika · 05/12/2016 19:42

I'm doing the last bits now, having some time out on Mumsnet of course. It's only because I can't face finishing the cards tonight, I bloody hate doing the cards!

Carneddai · 05/12/2016 19:59

I love wrapping!

SymphonyofShadows · 05/12/2016 20:06

I used to do it on the ironing board with all the presents spread out on the bed but I use gift bags now. I loosely wrap some in tissue too, but only to stop peeping

Brightermornings · 05/12/2016 20:09

I've started and once you get going it's not so bad. I also do it on the ironing board much easier.

SerialReJoiner · 05/12/2016 20:11

One February, about six years ago, I bought a bunch of cut-price Christmas fabric and sewed up simple bags with Velcro or ribbon ties in various sizes. Now I can just pop a present in the bag and tie a label to it. It is the best thing I have ever done for my Christmas sanity!

Audreyhelp · 05/12/2016 20:17

Oh please will someone do a swap I hate wrapping so much . I love ironing and cleaning bathrooms.

youngestisapsycho · 05/12/2016 20:20

I love wrapping, but just wrap.... I don't do ribbons and bows and stuff. All of the DDs presents are wrapped cos eldest DD went searching last year and looked at all her presents!

belleandsnowwhite · 05/12/2016 20:21

I Hate wrapping! So this year I have been wrapping them as I buy them.

Artandco · 05/12/2016 20:25

If you wrap with mulled wine, recommend you wrap those who achknowedge neat wrapping first!

firsttimemum15 · 05/12/2016 20:27

Any tips for wrapping with a baby. Night times are out as im usually shattered. I wish there was somewhere i coukd take it to and theyd wrap it all. Ive bought tags and paper etc

DeleteOrDecay · 05/12/2016 20:33

Yes to wrapping as you go. I have just wrapped and labelled a few things that arrived in the post over the weekend. God, if I'd left it all to be wrapped in one sitting it would take me ages and I'd end up getting fed up and bored. Plus if the dc's presents are wrapped at least they won't see what they are if they happen to find them (unlikely but still).

It's getting to the point now where I can't wait to start handing them all out to their rightful owners so I can be shot of it allGrin

Laska5772 · 05/12/2016 20:34

I do ribbons and bows, thats what takes the time..and do them at the dining table (usually with Wine) . . then I lay them all out on spare bedroom floor if we have no one staying beforehand (no DCs living at home any more) so they dont get all get squished up before Christmas.. but we never put our tree up until the day before and no presents until the night before .. (I dont know why , its what we have always done as a family - as did parents also )

Laska5772 · 05/12/2016 20:35

serial I like the Christmas bags idea.. Do you recycle them each year?

OP posts:
DeleteOrDecay · 05/12/2016 20:36

First how old is baby? Are they still at the lay down and stay put stage or are they mobile/into everything?

If still at the lay down and stay put stage you could just plonk baby on a playmat/swing/bouncer and sit next to them whilst you wrap. Maybe give them a few scraps of wrapping paper to keep them entertained.

If mobile then try to squeeze it in at nap times, or failing that sit in baby's room, stick baby in cot with a few toys and get wrapping.

SerialReJoiner · 05/12/2016 20:39

Yes! The same every year. Some things don't fit, or I have the wrong sizes, so I might still need to wrap, but it's only a few things.

BravingSpring · 05/12/2016 21:06

For the first time ever I wrapped as I bought this year, definitely the way to go.
