to think blue flashing house decorations should be banned, on the outside of the house, not least becuase they look like the emergency services

They're horrible because blue is not a Christmas colour Grin

BaggyCheeks · 04/12/2016 10:16

I'm with you OP. So many other colours to pick, why police car blue Xmas Grin

Piehunter · 04/12/2016 10:17

2 houses across from us have them and they keep them on all night.. Flashing lights visible through our bedroom curtains, very irritating! And why not nice warm white ones instead, less like they've kicked off and police are here as usual

NoahVale · 04/12/2016 10:19

on all night Shock
that is terrible, ban them
i do a double take when i am out and see them , can you take scissors to them pie?

They're common because when led lights became more readily available, the blue ones were much cheaper to produce. Hopefully they'll fizzle out now the full range of colours is easily available

NoahVale · 04/12/2016 10:21

that is interesting pretty.
thanks. i thought somehow may be they were cheaper.
fingers crossed they will fizzle out,

They are so beautiful though.

FizzBombBathTime · 04/12/2016 10:22

Ok I agree they shouldn't be on all night though... That's pretty bad

I like the blue! Am I incredibly tacky?!

NoahVale · 04/12/2016 10:23

There's a house here that is just after a bend but stuck out on a little island almost. The amount of people who slam on their brakes while driving as it looks like emergency vehicles in the road is going to cause an accident by the end of the season. I'm with you OP.

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 04/12/2016 10:31

There's more of them than ever here this year, a nearby town has gone entirely blue and silver in the high street this year and it looks lovely. I agree they shouldn't flash though.

ClashCityRocker · 04/12/2016 12:57

Yanbu op.

I think outdoor lights should be either multi-coloured, white or warm white.

Someone has all red icicles down our street. Now, I know red is a traditional festive colour but icicles aren't red and it makes the house look like it's bleeding.

DiegeticMuch · 04/12/2016 14:19

I love a garishly decorated house at Christmas. I hadn't thought of the blue lights thing before though. Yanbu.

megletthesecond · 04/12/2016 14:23

Grin at bleeding house. More Amityville than North Pole.

chocolatecakemakesmefat · 04/12/2016 14:51

Flashing lights actually bug me my sister has bad epilepsy and it's brought on by flashing lights ! And because they are really quite tacky ...

EvenTheWind · 04/12/2016 15:00

I like the blue!

NoahVale · 04/12/2016 15:19

yes i thought that when i saw them, about whether they brought on seizures.

OSETmum · 05/12/2016 18:40

I love Christmas lights and actually, I do agree with you. They are confusing in the dark (which is when lights are in obviously) especially on main roads.

JingleBellCock · 05/12/2016 18:42

I hate them, too.

Quite a few people on my road have year-round blue wall lights outside their house which do my head in. Catch me out all the time, thinking the police have rocked up across the road Grin.

The flashing ones are hideous and confusing.

mathanxiety · 06/12/2016 05:55

Where I live, Jewish families tend to use blue lights for Hanukkah, which often occurs around Christmas time, or in December.

I love them. Some are a sort of a violet blue.

MaryManchego · 06/12/2016 06:02

My NDN has flashing blue lights outside, she's quite elderly and frail, I keep having to check there's no ambulance parked outside.

And I nearly pulled over for some on an unfamiliar road the other day.

NoSunNoMoon · 06/12/2016 06:43

They are soulless and horrible.

Caroian · 06/12/2016 09:25

I really dislike them. Especially the really piercing one. And ones that flash. But then, I detest any insanely flashing lights. Or over the top lights. Loads of sets of lights on a single house etc etc. I'm very much a less-is-more type person. Call me scrooge but we have no outside lights anyway!

A house near us has some icicle type light that are obviously LED and coloured lights sort of "slide" down them. They are really irritating and not at all Christmassy.

Bah. Humbug!
