We're struggling with what to get Dd, 2.8, especially as she's dc2 and we have a lot of toys already. She loves animals, likes acting out little stories with toys, likes music and dancing, likes arts and crafts, loves games and puzzles. You'd think it'd be easy - but we have most of those things!

So please inspire me with what you are buying :)

I'm doing a fancy dress box full of hats and accessories and bits of fabric. Avoiding proper outfits as she's too small for most of them and hoping this will encourage her to be creative. Going to include lots of animal masks too.

Bobsmum02 · 03/12/2016 20:07

My DS is 2, similar interests to your DD, some things we've got him:

Toy till and shopping basket
Washing up set for his kitchen
Duplo
Imaginex sets
Orchard games - dotty dinosaurs and shopping list
Pop up pirate
Dressing up costumes
Melissa and Doug fishing game

Misty9 · 03/12/2016 21:01

Hmm, maybe we don't need to buy anything as we have most of your suggestions already! All she asked for was a "toy mouse that can tickle me and moves" (!) so we've hopefully covered that with a mouse hand puppet and a cat toy Grin

They both love books and have got a couple each and will get a game too, but stuck beyond that.

We have bought DD (2.8) a Dr's set, a wooden till and a huge box of wooden train set to add her already fair sized collection. Have asked relatives for magnetic letters, dressing up outfits, a purse for her handbag and doll's clothes.

wobblywonderwoman · 03/12/2016 21:09

Have you seen the wooden shop coming into lidl on Thursday. We have a two and three year old and are considering this.. also the cut up fruit.

We are buying ride on toys as main presents.

What about those pretty tippee tents?

noblegiraffe · 03/12/2016 21:12

Dd also wants a mouse so we've got her a little live pets one

There's a giant Happyland set half price in mothercare/early learning centre at the moment, I almost had The Twitch when I saw it, could that work?

My DD is getting a Peppa plane where you can actually open the doors (it's surprisingly hard to find vehicles where the doors open and close), Thomas Megabloks, a Thomas pillowcase and duvet cover set, some kids sunglasses as she's obsessed with glasses, and a couple of books.

SatsukiKusakabe · 03/12/2016 21:25

My dd will be 3 just after Christmas, also dc2.

She is getting:

Paw patrol figures and vehicles
A large cuddly Tigger
Wooden doll bed - I'm painting it to match her room and making bedding.
Rapunzel mini animator doll play set
Playmobil pony stable - we've been making one out of cardboard boxes all year for her horses so I'm excited about getting her a more stable stable!

For her birthday shortly after she is getting a bike with stabilisers as ds's first bike is a size too big, a Lottie doll, Anna dress up outfit and books.

SatsukiKusakabe · 03/12/2016 21:26

Grandparents are getting her a keyboard.

SatsukiKusakabe · 03/12/2016 21:27

Sorry, keyboard with microphone so she can sing along. It is from ELC, and some sylvanian figures.

TanaLawn · 03/12/2016 21:44

DS is 2.9

His big gifts will be a wooden space rocket (kind of like a doll's house but it is an open rocket with astronauts and equipment) and a Haba Kullerbu (ball track thingy) - basically like a marble run except the balls are
bigger and it has cool sound effects, bells and windmills and dominos to knock over etc. Got that one as it is compatible with the Haba marble run sets when he is bigger.

What about a puppet theatre?

Brio train set
Duplo
Playmobil bin lorry
New jim jams and t-shirt
New cup and lunchbox

Stocking fillers: maracas, chocolates, stickers

Hmm, that's it really. I don't feel the need to buy anything more than this as he will already get so much from grandparents and other relatives.

kitkat321 · 03/12/2016 21:52

My DD is 2 (only just) so it's tricky buying for Christmas and birthday so close together.

For Christmas she's getting a pram and baby Annabelle - she loves her doll and buggy but they are wee cheap things so I though I'd get her some better ones - mainly because we couldn't think of anything else.

I also got her storytime Olaf a new garden slide as she's outgrown the "my first slide" one. There are other wee bits and pieces too but she got a lot for her birthday - balance bike & helmet, toot toot toys, dressing up stuff.

We also want to get her a trampoline but can't decide whether or not to get that for her Christmas or wait and buy her one when the better weather comes - I feel like it would just sit out in the garden unused for months - or I'd be forced to stand outside in the cold and rain so she can play in it!

We have a very generous family so she already has so many things and I don't want to feel like I'm buying her things for the sake of it - it's hard not to get carried away though!

Misty9 · 03/12/2016 22:34

satsuki is that the keyboard with the drum bits on it too? I like the idea of a keyboard and microphone but the reviews aren't great on any of them, mostly saying flimsy and breaks easily.

OP posts:
SatsukiKusakabe · 03/12/2016 23:18

Yes the ELC one with the drums, I liked that you could attach an MP3 player to sing along to and the extra bits. The reviews I saw were all mainly good, I haven't seen it in action myself though, so a case of fingers crossed.

MrsRaegan · 04/12/2016 07:08

TanaLawn what is a kuller blue track? Sounds fun!

TanaLawn · 04/12/2016 21:41

It's - you can add various different things to it (little automatic opening doors, click clack noise inserts, bells, dominos, loop the loops etc).

It is compatible with their marble runs like when they are a bit older and past the putting marbles in the mouth stage!

MrsRaegan · 05/12/2016 21:19

It looks fab! Where did you buy it from?

TanaLawn · 05/12/2016 23:27

I got it from a german toystore online (Jako-o) as it was cheaper than Amazon and included free delivery.

ginauk84 · 06/12/2016 13:30

My DD is three, we seem to have lots of smaller presents relating to Disney Princess as she is obsessed with anything Disney Princess. Dressing up dresses, games, a Build a Bear Pony which she has wanted forever. We are toying with getting her first pedal bike from Halfords as we saw one that looked fab and she has had her balance bike for a while. However we might leave that till her birthday but even though I have spent a bit she doesn't have a main present, lots of little bits.

Her playmobil drives me mad as it breaks up easily and there are bits of it everywhere, I wish I could glue it together! She has stacks of Happyland and is growing out of it as she prefers being able to move the legs and arms of the Playmobil. She loved her cousin's Sylvannian so perhaps get her a set of that rather than a bike, hmmm

MothersRuinart · 06/12/2016 13:41

I have ds 3. Three year olds arr easy to buy for as they are just so excited about opening a present. Or maybe that's just my ds... I got him a big sticker book and toy cars. I suggest something that you enjoy playing with/watching /reading or doing too so you can join your kids for a little play and not get bored immediately. They get a double whammy of new toy and quality time with parent.

ginauk84 · 06/12/2016 16:51

Yes it's a good point mothersruinart as we have got a couple of board games for DD so we can do something together.

AHolyGuacamole · 06/12/2016 16:55

Dd will be 3 in a couple of weeks. Between her birthday and Christmas she has got:

Wooden dolls house
Handmade rag doll
Peppy Pup Dalmatian
Pop Up Olaf game
A book and a fairy sticker book
Small plush Elsa, Anna & Olaf
A pack of Tsum Tsum's

In her stocking is frozen sunglasses (specially requested!), MLP tattoos, some hair clips, bath crayons and choc coins. Will get another couple of bits for her stocking too.
