Or mocktail for the non drinkers and children?

Keen to have fun at Christmas and new year and keen to make guests feel welcome !!

Open to any ideas - don't have to be Christmassy ones!

thanks !

Am sure these would work equally well with champagne instead of prosecco

My favourite is the last one - prosecco, gin & elderflower

Sloe gin and prosecco/champagne make a lovely Christmassy Bellini.

If it counts as a cocktail, I like Queen Mother's Ruin; gin and Dubonnet. Apparently it was a favourite drink of hers, posher than plain Mother's Ruin.

i love a singapore sling

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 03/12/2016 19:23

I like gin with rose lemonade, and also gin with Rekorderlig passion fruit cider is gorgeous.

GrumpyOldBag · 03/12/2016 19:24

Traditional Champagne cocktail:

Sugar lump with a couple of drops of angostura bitters.

Covered with a little brandy.

Topped up with champagne to the top.

Never bettered.

GrumpyOldBag · 03/12/2016 19:25

If you want something a bit less alcoholic you can't beat a Bellini - champagne and peach juice.

You can do a non-alcoholic version for kids with sparkling apple juice.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 03/12/2016 19:27

Bellini over here please!

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/12/2016 19:32

Tom Collins.

Ginny, lemony lusciousness in a tall frosted glass.

If you want something a bit less alcoholic you can't beat a Bellini - champagne and peach juice.

You can use ellas kitchen baby food purees- I use both peaches and strawberries to make lovely bellinis.

In a pouch so you can keep it in the fridge when open

Gin and French: a double measure of gin and a single measure of French Vermouth over crushed ice.Bliss.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/12/2016 09:47

A BIL often gives us Kir - a little Cassis (alcoholic Ribena!) topped up with Fizz.

BeaLola · 04/12/2016 09:52

My favourite is the traditional Champage cocktail as per Grumpy above but you add a generous dash of grand mariner to it to top it off plus some curled orange peel to decorate.

madgingermunchkin · 04/12/2016 09:59

You could also mix the two. The Edinburgh gin company do flavoured find; elderflower, raspberry and rhubarb & ginger to name three.
I just add a shot of one to a glass of champagne/prosecco.

yellowsun · 04/12/2016 18:29

Gin sours. Or mix both and have a French 75!

Davros · 04/12/2016 18:50

Gettinglikemymother that's a Kir Royals. Enjoy!Xmas Smile

VanillaSugarAndChristmasSpice · 04/12/2016 18:52

Ooh, what's a French 75?? 😆🍸

yellowsun · 05/12/2016 23:38

It's gin, champagne, lemon juice and sugar!

Hersetta427 · 06/12/2016 12:33

I generally don't drink gin but I love a bramble.

I also don't taint by champagne by putting anything in it...tis wrong.

FurryDogMother · 06/12/2016 12:46

Someone posted on here last year about a 'Saint 75', which, from memory is sugar syrup, a shot of vodka, Saint Germain liqueur, topped up with champagne, and a maraschino cherry in the bottom. I could be wrong about the vodka, but it worked for me :D Still have half a bottle of the st G left from last year, and I'm looking forward to it!

SecondaryQuandary · 06/12/2016 12:54

Club soda, St Germain elderflower liqueur and champagne/Prosecco

Gin, cranberry juice, a little orange juice, soda, fresh cranberries

Those are the two I'm serving at our Xmas party this year

Negroni: one part each gin, campari and vermouth rosso.

Or you cant beat a classic gin martini, ice cold with 3 olives.

VanillaSugarAndChristmasSpice · 07/12/2016 17:12

Sidecar: brandy, triple sec (or cointreau) and lemon juice!

Acornantics · 07/12/2016 17:23

Loving the idea of squirting Ella's fruit puree into a glass of prosecco!
