Binoculars for star gazing

DH has mentioned a few times that he'd like a decent pair of binoculars (rather than a telescope) for looking at the stars. Can I get anything decent for no more than £50? (But preferably less?) I know nothing about binoculars so have no idea what I should be looking for. Thanks.

Mr Chocolate, who is a mad keen astronomer, says get him Bresser 10x50 - £37 on Amazon (other retailers are available)
